My guess and he will say parts that he interprets as lightweight. Nothing lightweight (performance) on the build. Even wheels are enduro rated although maybe light for some riders.
Looks like a solid build to me. Never had any experience on berd wheels so can't comment there. Interesting choice on handlebars though, very minimal rise?
I am short at 5-2 so stack is always an issue for me. Right now I have 20mm of spacers under.

No - but I bet his wallet is 😜

Lol. Yeah unfortunately none of these parts are inexpensive.

Scale - A few years ago we bought a certified 10kg weight to test out scales. This one is almost spot on. Can’t recall the variance but it was single digit grams.
Strange.
That’s a portly 2800g fork, and a 900g shock.
And sram transmission.
Wheels save 300g over the nobl tr37’s I have, but I’m running a similar build with a lighter fork and shock (800g lighter), and still weigh 37 pounds.
S3 frame, but you wouldn’t think there’s that much weight difference ?
Must be, only thing that might explain it.
My scale is calibrated as well.

Hey team,
I was wondering if anyone knows of the best deal to be had on a dreadnought v2 frame in Canada atm? I'm in Australia and they retail for $7300aud, the best deal I can see is overseas is $2579USD ($4068aud) for the X2 framekit from the Forbidden website. I'd have to get a Canadain contact to buy it and get it shipped over. Just wanted to see if anyone knows of a shop (or a private sale) doing a better deal. Bloody Sabbath in S3, doesnt matter what, if any, shock it has as I've got my own :)
Someone previously in the thread got a price of $2106, but that was in September or so.
Thanks :)
Ben

Bikes are… bikes. Most folks can find a way to build their pipe dream bike up from scratch if that’s what makes them happy. This ain’t car money or boat money or 2nd/3rd/4th home money. For $10–15k you can build yourself a no-holds-barred, best per your own vision rig. I say have at it and knock yourself out.

My Clydesdale v2 dreadnought upgrades when I have the cash:

1) EXT Vaia (or a tuned and refinished Dorado)

2) EXT Storia

3) Eewings (never should have sold my set… I break/bend everything else so it’s not the weight it’s the strength I’m after)

4) My current Noble TR41’s relaced to silver CK hubs

5) Intend brakes. Mavens are nice and powerful but constantly boarding the re-bleeding struggle bus to attempt to fix the wandering bite point is not my idea of how I’d like to spend my free time

so roughly $7k LOL

Forbidden has an impressive sale on the Fox Dreadnoughts from the website. Just get your buddy to buy direct and sent it over. If you’re lucky, you could ask them to ship in a dealer box. It’s partly unassembled but packed well for shipping.

First thoughts in Druid v2 vs Dread v2. Both set up with the same parts except the different size fork and shock.

Tech riding - we ride a lot of single track with heavy rock natural terrain. Climbs tend to be punch tech up to 45 min slogs.

Dread more comfortable in chunk. Fast when it gets rough. More comfort in drops. Confidence inspiring in the all tech, slow and fast, big hits. Feels heavier. Pedals just as well but noisier. Need to investigate this. Not sure why people thinks it’s a tank to handle. Maybe I am just used to we here we ride. We have some tight stuff. Interested in trying 160 in the front. Bike fits a tad smaller than Druid due to the STA.

Druid - feels lighter. Quieter. More than a 130 bike for sure. Does overlap the Dread by maybe 70%. Reach is longer than Dread.

With the stock suspensions, I think the Druid would separate itself a bit more from the Dread. The Push fork and shock turn it into a more capable bike. In stock form vs the Dread in Oush form, Druid overlaps50-60%

The saga continues.

Best I've seen for Oz recently was World Wide Cyclery, but limited sizes.

Not a conversion but I did run it with a push nine.one which is a coil fork. Running full coil made the bike really feel like a pig especially on climbs.
Yeah that's kinda what I figured, this bike isn't setting records on any climbs but I will have to haul it around for some 5k vert enduro race days and longer epics. Did you run an air fork before and if so does it feel less playful? I ride a lot of rocky, bumped out tech trails more than high speed jump lines and I think the extra traction may be worth it

I did one ride with a zeb and it was more playful. Is it worth the extra weight, only you can decide that. Yeah the dread has minimal pedal bob but the weight + the lower pulley made it exhausting to climb. Keep in mind I'm pretty fit and also had a Nomad with the same set up (37lbs). However, the Nomad feels more spritely when climbing and doesn't feel like a 37lb bike.

I found a ‘23 Fox 36 160mm Grip2 fork for $350 so I think I’m going to give this a shot (currently on stock 170mm Zeb).
Was the shift to shorter travel and smaller diameter a noticeable change or is it something that takes a few rides to appreciate?
I liked it right away , however I still havent tried it on the steepest /fast type terrain but Im sure it will do fine as the back end is so calm.

I don't agree. I did a 10km climb on it last Saturday, mix of trail and road, and it was more than fine. With a DH rear super soft, max grip tires on both ends. If you're familiar with the North Shore, I climbed form the bottom of Cambodia back to the parking lot above CBC on Mt. Seymour.

New Dreadnought V2 owner here... coming from a V1 with the Cascade Link installed. I've had the new bike out for a few rides and love how it feels overall but like so many others have said, I'm not getting that bottomless, floating feel from the rear end that I'm used to. It definitely shines the faster it goes, though.

Question: for those of you that kept the Vivid Air, what settings did you find got you closest to the "magic carpet" feel? Right now I'm running 30% sag with compression wide open and rebound almost fully open (19 clicks from closed, I believe). HBO is fully open and I still have the two volume spacers in the shock.

I know lots of people have gone to a coil, but I really don't want to add more weight (and money) if I can help it. Conversely, has anyone gone the other way and put a RS SDU Air on the bike? That's what I had on the V1 and it was fantastic.

I put a coil on immediately. Never tried the Vivid. Somehow the 11/6 preserves the pedaling capability. Yes as speed and hits increase so does the plushness. The 11/6 shock weighed right around 880g I think but can’t quite recall.

First off the Vivid Air is great. I definitely wouldn’t run out to buy anything else just yet. I ran it for the majority of last season until I switched to a Vivid Coil that I ran all fall long. I like both for different reasons. I just put the Vivid Air back on recently and it feels like I just about got the setting dialed in. I’m 140lbs, running 175psi -1 from open on rebound -1 on HSC and LSC and in the middle on HBO. It’s definitely on the lesser comfortable size of settings but it feels great at speeds. Id highly recommend looking at Forbidden shock setup guide. It was almost spot on for my weight.

It's interesting... when I use the Forbidden-recommended air pressure setting (215 for a 175# rider), it gives me 23% sag. There's no way that's going to feel right.

Edit to add: 183 psi gets me just under 30% sag. Interesting it's so far off.
You likely need to equalize your +/- chambers, it's pretty common to not have them equalize properly.
