Not often you get a chance to bike in the snow in Alabama. My fat bike converted to 29" monster gravel drop bar bike gets its 26" fat wheels back on for this rare snow day. Beauty of the friction shifter was being able to throw on an old random 9 speed cassette on the spare wheels and not have any issues shifting.

The snow is pretty much all gone, but it’s been cold enough that there’s a decent amount of ice remaining. Still rolling on studs.

Trail obstruction today. If I’m feeling up to it, tomorrow…might bring the Silky and try to clear it. 🤡

If it was closer to the trailhead, I’d be tempted to backpack my chainsaw in, but that would be a hell of a mess (thing works well, but leaks bar oil like that’s its job).

First Fat Bike ride on the snow this year. New Freddie's Stack Rock trail near Boise. Above Bogus Rd. the trail was very well packed by snow shoers. Below the road has lots of sun exposed areas which still had a snow skinny or dirt. The shady areas were just as good as above the road. Here's the pics.

There were some icy spots but I could usually see them coming and got off the brakes and rolled through on this old snow. A storm is coming this weekend so I'll get out on the fresh stuff next week.

Finally got an inch of snow in Alaska, but the ground is too warm still. Should freeze up tomorrow and be back to some good riding...well, good for me that is.
