I cant say for sure but in the Manitou service document says not to clamp the shock eylet any deeper than half way from the outside edge, basically only where the frame in your picture is covering, because the area so too thin. I dont expect you would be able to safely machine anything off of the area you are pointing to.

Are you referring to the material on either side of the eyelet? Or from the top of the shock body itself? And how much material would need to be removed?

Out of curiosity, where are you seeing this? I can't find it in any of the service guides I have downloaded. (I was checking to make sure I hadn't been doing it incorrectly.)

I just saw it a few days ago, I'll see if I can find it. The picture I saw showed to only clamp the sides eyelet itself and stay well away from anything below it because the metal there is too thin to clamp.

It was for a DPX2

Uhhh looks like there might be some room but I’d rather think about butchering the frame. It looks beefy enough. Not an option if you bought it all new and shiny though…

But what if….

Can the 210x50 be increased to 210x55? Asking because 210x55 is out of stock, and I want to try one of these. I had one on my old bike, and it was at least as good as my fancy coil shock.
For the eyelet version taken from the 250 hour service manual. First column is the travel limiting spacers, so looks like you are good to go.
