I've been thinking a lot about rolling resistance and tread designs lately. There's so much at play when it comes to speed, and I think it's heavily dependent on snow conditions and depth. I also think the type of riding you're doing is also a factor (singletrack, snowmachine trails, multi-use, etc.)

With that said, a lightweight casing of appropriate size, low height/high-density tread placement, and a rubber compound that adapts well to a wide range of temperatures is probably going to be a fast-rolling tire.
