Indeed the rims are available 😋

The point I wanted to express was that the likes of Trek/Spec/Scott will need to change their spec choices & marketing messages if they’re to offer carbon rims on reasonably priced bikes.

eg: here in Aus I’d want a basic 32 HT $4k (with carbon rims) but the entry level 29 Roval Carbon wheelset is $2k

see the spec of this Scott for $3.6k
…12.2 kg / 27 lbs
…carbon frame
…alu rims
…single butted spokes
…alu bar and post
…Deore drivetrain with an XT mech
…most basic Fox fork

so, they’d need to change from a carbon frame to alu, and offer carbon rims … which at face value seems reasonable, but for the price that Roval etc charge for carbon wheel sets … but then again, real world mainstream marketing is divorced from truth and logic…so I’ll curb my pessimism 🤓. Maybe unlike current carbon rimmed wheel sets offered on bikes, future ones will be OE specials not offered for retail sale…in the same way that OE alu wheel sets are

Hmmm, I might have talked myself into it being possible. 😇
For a while, there weren't all that many budget 29ers. Campus Cruisers remained 26ers almost into the '10s.

Is anything bigger than a 29er really needed for 95% of us riders? I fought long and hard, then reluctantly jumped on board to 29ers from 27.5ers, not really thinking 29ers were better, but because they were more available. Sure 32ers are a viable option for those extremely tall people and 36ers for those even taller, but for everyone else...no!, just no!
Next time you're through SE Idaho, stop for a test ride.

And no one needs to be riding bikes at all.

I assume the haters inherently know their tiny wheels are an obvious deficiency. The size envy manifests in the form of repeated self validations of their choices as much as blanket declarations about outliers they are experientially ignorant of. The more a 6'2" dude tells me he likes 27.5" for his couch, the more ima think they suffer from tribalism and limited sampling opportunities.

And then I'll lol at their "overbiking while underbiking".

It's not that I look down on the small of rim. It's that I don't see them at all as my nigh literal wagon wheels roll right over em.

32s?

Psssssssh.

If you'll allow me to riff on the big wheel haters with some numerology - where big is any bigger than 27.5, which is more like than 27 than 27.5 (since we're truth telling) ... and as a Christmas bonus I've added 26" to your stocking

(TLDR: everything leads to 29" or 36")

36: 3+6 = 9.... like 29. How about that!
36: 3*6 = 18 ... half of 18 = 9 ... like 29 Shocking!

32: 3+2 = 5 ... like ... nothing :(
32: 3*2 = 6 ... and 3*2*3 = 18*2 = 36 OR 18*1/2 = 9 like 29. Fascinating!

29: 2+9 = 11 ... like ... nothing :(
29: 2*9 = 18 ...and 1+8 = 9 ... like 29 ... AND 2*18 = 36. Who would have thought!

27: 2+7 = 9 ... like 29 ... well well well... isn't that interesting!
27: 2*7 = 14 ... like ... nothing :(

26: 2+6 = 8 ... like ... nothing :(
26: 2*6 = 12 ... like ... nothing :(

So there we have it, everything leads to 29" or 36".

32 sounds dumb. The wheels I have to run at 27.5 or 29 to remain reliable for a season or 3 are already so heavy. No way in hell I could use something like an Aspen for a tire, that wouldn’t last the first 5 miles.

I’ve just confirmed this rumor with David Folch. There are indeed 32” Maxxis 32x2.4s that he’s been issued several months ago for testing.

The DirtySixer Gravel Bike has 32-Inch Wheels!

In the comments of this article the owner of dirtysixer talks about him currently testing the new Maxxis Aspen in 32x2.40 and everything that's in the works from other manufactures to support the new size.

awesome, now we can enjoy your constant scolding of anybody not adopting any new setup that you deem the best thing ever offered. Like all your other “theories”.

Not to mnetion that David Folch is all over the comments in that article stating it’s a 32” wheel and why so what exactly did you need to ”confirm”?

Is that user specific? Or can you also enjoy me saying 32" is insufficiently incremental?
user specific, search his other posts especially pertaining to bike setup and how the world should act per him. I personally don’t see myself adopting bigger wheels but I don’t care if others want to give it a go, especially people 6’ and taller.

Although I think that the 32ers aren’t for me, I wouldn’t be against trying one. We are all different obviously and what works or what we like are different.
i welcome manufacturers pushing different technologies, even if it is a product that we all can’t agree on, think about it, gravel, electronic shifting and dropping, more travel or any travel at all, we all have different opinions.

Yes. Living in a part of New England where it’s all natural tech. My last all out XC bike had Flow EX rims on 240 hubs and the Ikon EXO tires didn’t survive. The current v2 Forekaster does, but the pressures aren’t in the supple range.
You seem to have pretty extreme conditions then. For most people Aspen would be a pretty middle of the road XC tire and good starting point for Maxxis.
