There exist a Rekon 29x2.4 3C EXO Maxterra in 120tpi instead of 60tpi. But it must be an OEM only tire. There was a 3rd party on Amazon selling 120tpi version but I can’t find it anymore. Anyone know of a place to buy?

They say 120tpi in the description but then they list the part number as TB00301000 which is actually EXO+. I actually bought this specific tire. When moubted, It looked super skinny in comparison to the 2.4 120tpi rekon that came on my bike. So i had to look at the label again thinking i might have mistakenly got the 2.25. Nope! it was the TB00301000
Freakin Maxxis!

The older EXO+ had a 120 tpi casing and the newer version has a 60 tpi casing that does measure slightly smaller. The standard 2.4 EXO Maxxterra have always been 60 tpi. The 2.8,2.6 & 2.25 Maxxterra have a 120 tpi casing with the Dual Compound a 60 tpi casing.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how the regular EXO 60tpi measures?

I’ve got 3 different Rekons right now .. my favorite, regular EXO in 2.4 120tpi that came OEM on my Spur, a 2.6 120tpi, and the EXO+ in 2.4.

The EXO 2.4 dual compound I have mounted on a 27i rim measures 2.34 at the casing and 2.42 at the tread.

Actually I am just wondering if the 2.4 Rekon Exo Maxxterra is capable of winter rides in wet (but not muddy) conditions ?

Trail conditions are quite mellow and flowy, nothing real gnarly over here.

I now ride Rekon Race 2.25 f/r, which is okay in wet conditions, but also not great. Just looking for one step up (don't like the Ikon on the front).

ForeKaster V2 front and Rekon rear would be my choice.

It can get caked up with mud pretty fast. But i find it does surprisingly well when running low pressure and mounted on some compliant rims which add traction

They exist as non-OEM, at least they did several years ago. I have two of them (used) sitting in my basement. I purchased them from Competitive Cyclist for a Ripley build in early 2021. They have the yellow Maxxis on them. If I'm not mistaken OEM have white Maxxis and non-OEM have yellow.
