Yeah that sounds like the way people do it.

But then I ask, why do you want the Maven lever? There are better levers out there like Lewis or TRP.
I like bearings at levers, functional bite point adjust, mmx, and the ergo. Trp levers are really nice and light feeling but don’t have bite point and the levers get sloppy feeling when the bushings wear out.
And Lewis… I’m not interested.

Magura caliper and maven lever

Setup:
MT5/7 caliper
Magura hose

Maven ultimate lever
Sram olive and barb
Sram compression bolt

Maxima mineral oil used

Notes:
Easy bleed, followed sram manual with contact point away from arrow. Used sram bleed kit with magura caliper syringe.

Tested with full maven right brake, maven Magura left brake. Both using organic pads 200mm Rotor.

Brake power is very good, similar to trp dhr evo, less on/off aggressive than full maven.

Absolutely no bite point wandering or pump up. Did not perform any piston massage to magura caliper. May be due to perfect bleed.

No brake fade experienced during my rides so far.

This is a great mix of components if you already have magura calipers and hate plastic levers or shimano servo wave (shigura)

Hello folks, I’m pleased to discover that the maven-xtr combo is all that you think it would be. Xtr feel and modulation with maven power… the xtr hose and banjo are a direct fit, no mods needed!
Hey there! Are you still running this setup? I have xtr brakes and have been considering the Shigura mod. I’ve been asking everywhere and was told time and again shimano levers won’t work with mavens. I stumbled upon this website from a pink bike forum.
How has your setup been? Which fluid did you use? I’d appreciate any further info or suggestions or insights you may have from doing this mod. Really appreciate it!! Thanks!

Missing out not giving the Lewis' a chance. I have the LHT's and they're some of the best brakes I've tried. Absolutely love the lever feel and the adjustments.

All these brake mods are what I seek online to find the best, most configurable braking setup! Currently, I'm running XTR levers with saint calipers, full metallic pads and 2.3mm, 203 rotors (bought on alixpress!!! they're heavy, but deliver!!!) - the power delivery of this setup is insane and if I squeeze a little too hard, supermanning into the ground before my brain gets any heavy petting in on the backs of my eyeballs!! It's moon dust season here on Vancouver Island and I am considering running ceramic pads up front to keep the front wheel from washing out and from me dry-humping the dusty rocks in the corners.... During our wet riding season, the metallic pads are great, but picked up ceramic pads and fresh rotors this season to see how the combo changes the power delivery - does anybody ride mixed pads for this reason?

No, but it is essential to run mixed pads for a very different reason. I believe you are going in the wrong direction. The typical 4-piston high power setup is woefully unbalanced with far too much power at the rear, not the front. Sounds like what you may need is better front end traction, and a more judicious left index finger. On my bikes, the ceramic (modulating) pads go on the back.
