Hello everyone! This is going to be my first posting here so pls no bully
Anyways, I have decided to frankenfurt together a maven ultimate caliper and a slx lever bc I really enjoy the shimano brakes and also needed a little more power
.
I just finished installing, bleeding, and aligning the the brake system and so far it's functioning as intended(Front wheel only).
I'll be a little busy this week so I dont think I'll be able to take the bike out this week and provide a rundown on brake feel and functionality, so I will post more info as soon as i can.
But based on the quick neighborhood ride I can already tell this setup is extremely powerful, as now i can effortlessly pull my eyeballs out of my skull depending on how hard i pull on the lever
I also noted that there is good amount of power left after hitting the wall on the lever, and the calipers are so powerful it feels like its amplifying the on/off shimano feel. I may need to step down to 180 rotors from 203's.
for the parts I used:
maven caliper(duh)
maven organic pads
maven hardware kit(need to buy separately)
sram silver banjo hose kit
shimano olive and barb
shimano slx lever
Maxima mineral oil
galfer wave 1.8mm rotors
please feel free to give me some pointers and ask away with questions.
EDIT
First ride update:
TLDR: Extremely powerful, easy to lock up wheels, can't say for sure how viable this setup is since i haven't adjusted to the setup, but see a lot of potential with some fine tuning.
Hi guys, after coming back from a nice ride, I have some things to report back.(Please ask questions and give me some pointers and tips)

Hi guys, after coming back from a nice ride, I have some things to report back.(Please ask questions and give me some pointers and tips)
- First of all, the lever feels great, it doesn't feel much, or any different from having the stock calipers on. the difference is that the organic pads + higher power caliper amplifies the on/off feeling a little too much for me, and caused me to slow down quite a bit on trails due to fear of washing out the front tire. I feel like an ant could fart on my levers and i'd wash out. But, this is purely me not being acclimated to the set up and I will give it a couple more rides(with a smaller rotor) to see where this takes me.(Also ordered some sintered pads to try out)
- I experienced the wandering bite point(WBP) during the ride. In my experience, the WPB only manifests for a couple lever pumps when you leave the bike alone for a couple minutes, and disappears when actually riding continuously, so i don't really see a problem with this. (note on the following bullet point)
- the lever started to get spongy towards the end of the ride, which funnily enough made the power more manageable, but I suspect the riding knocked loose some air bubbles and the setup needs another bleed. (note: will rebleed and proceed with the double rotor piston massage, and as note, I properly did the full bleed and piston massage prior to this ride)
- in conclusion, I need to ride it more to familiarise myself with the setup, and do some fine tuning to help with controlling the dang thing(have a 180 rotor and sintered pads on the way)
