So after some searching for mud guards I finally found one that would work on the z1/z2 using the existing holes or so I thought! I went to check my z1 which is the newer model and my sons z2 both are lacking the pre drilled holes unless you tap your own. Are they're any other options for a better then a zip tie mud guard?

If there are holes you might get better results with thread-forming screws if you can source the appropriate type/size.

Funny timing. I just installed a new plastic fender on my Z1. I don't have holes either. Zip ties are my go-to!
