Been researching dampers for a Fox Factory 36 Grip 2. I came across a few available dampers Avalanche, MRP Lift, FAST SC5 - maybe more? Avalanche seems to get solid reviews but starting @ $550 is a bit of a hit on my current financial situation. I'd consider myself pretty lenient on my suspension expectations but the Grip 2 just doesn't seem to have enough enough compression damping (I weigh 215lb). I dropped a lot of $ on the Vorsprung Secus, which did improve the midstroke, but it feels like it still seems to wallow @ slower speeds especially after braking. Thanks.

Avalanche would be your best option, but it's pricey. Other options would be the MRP Lift or the new GripX2, but since they are new, there isn't much info on their performance.

You can also buy a grip1 damper dirt cheap on pinkbike and send it to Dougal for mod. Or a fit4 damper and put in Fractive Tune.

Please send a grip2vvc instead. The grip1 and non vvc grip 2 are very time consuming.

The article is written in 2018 though. What you need is a fit4 with 10mm shaft. Vorsprung website lists 16-19 36.
They can be made to fit the 8mm shaft versions, but it requires modification and the preconfigured tuning results all move. IMO FIT4 is not worth it. You've got proprietary bladders and shaft seals.

I assume all bladder, fit4, Mezzer or Charger, are all proprietary. Good to know even shaft seals are proprietary…
Yes. There are some aftermarket replacements for bladders. Also some dampers are more likely to pop the bladders than others. Some have pressure relief ports, some tend to unclip the bladder before it pops, others just blow them up until they pop.

Not many shaft seals are proprietary. FOX FIT and RS Charger are the main ones.

The initial report on the MRP Lift is encouraging, and they have 15% off this weekend.

That said, you can't go wrong with the Avalanche damper.

There is a 64 page and growing thread on here about the Lift. I would suggest dropping in to that and reading what people have to say. I made it to about page 15 before I ordered mine. I should have it any day now.
Not to steal any work away from Dougal! I have heard great things about his work on the grip2vvc.
