Hey, I bought a Bomber CR a year ago(13 months). I maybe put 75-100h on it. First ride of the season today, when the shock begin to compress, the first 5-10mm of stroke doesn't have any damping. Then it kicks in, feels like a knock or a numb.

It does it at any part of the stroke. If I don't decompress the shock fully, and compress it, it will still do it.

Any idea? My local bike shops are overloaded right now. Only 1 does suspension service. Is it worth it to contact Marzocchi for a warranty?

Knocking is a broken wave spring in the base-valve. I replace them with a hard o-ring of the appropriate size.

Do you have the size of the oring by any chance? I want to do the work myself. My LBS is overloaded right now with season starting here in Canada.

I am looking to get a seringe to bleed the shock. I am wondering if a get a fill needle to charge the IFP or if I get the the schrader adpater.

What about sending it to S4 Suspension? They're not too far away.
I'll send them an email to see if it's still under warranty for this kind of defect. I can imagine they are very busy at the moment, it would suck to lose my shock for 1+ month and miss out on the begining of the season. Just yesterday I was at Montebello to ride.

Getting the tool to do it myself would mean i would be set to do it for the next services. I'd also like to change the rebound tune to light.

If @Dougal can share the info on the hard o-ring he replaces them with, i may be able to. Or maybe S4 can send me a few springs in the mail.

wave spring od looks like .500. i have not had a bomber cr or van rc come across my bench to get the right fitment but i'll note to find the right size. can also use the float x/dhx cap to avoid the nitro needle. just get the pump adapter.

Yeah, I am looking at what I need to rebuild it myself. The DHX end cap assembly is on my list, I just wanted to double check that it was compatible and indeed the right part. I also need a seringe and and the right adapter to bleed the shock. I am looking at 200 $can juste for the tools.

For the air fill adapter that couples to the end cap, is it the same as the Rockshox part?

S4 suspension also replace the wave spring with something else. They are willing to sell the part to me. I am also gonna order some shims to replace the rebound circuit to light.

Why not just get a nitrogen fill tool with a schrader adapter. Schmidty Racing on ebay, others on amazon are available for not that much money.

If I recall correctly the bleed hole on the bridge is 6-32. Making something like a luer lock to 6-32 adapter shouldn't be too tough if you can get access to a lathe.

I hand bleed my Bomber CRs by just sitting a syringe body full of fluid on top of that bridge bleed port and working the shock/ifp/etc. Make sure the rebound needle is full seated (open) before you re-assemble everything or you'll not be able to bleed the air out in that part of the circuit, the needle gets pushed back via flow/ifp pressure so you can't move it from closed to open without the shock being buttoned up.

I feel I get pretty decent bleeds this way. I also tend to give them some time to rest and let the bubbles rise and combine, of course that won't get air bubbles out of your valving so assemble accordingly.
