Sent and inquiry to Maxxis about EXO+ and 27.5 availability, just got this email:

“We have the 29x2.40 Forekasters with EXO+ on hand now (they JUST landed) but have not transferred over to inventory yet which could take till Friday.

29X2.40WT M362eU FOREKASTER F60 3CT/EXO+/TR/E50 TB00472400

The new Forekaster will be available in 27.5 at some point hopefully later in the year”

I had the v1 Forekaster and Rekon 2.6 combo on my bike and recently switched to dual Ground Control T5 2.35s.

The GCs roll way faster and grip way better. I was actually blown away by the difference.

Riding conditions are dry, mostly hardpack and dusty, some loose over hard, gravelly, Utah desert stuff.

Welcome to EmptyBeer.
Raise your head up & look around a bit, get yourself a good view of the landscape.
It might be different than you expect.
What you see is what you get. It’s a public forum. Some replies are good, some are bad, some are serious, some are funny.
Or at least intended to be funny.
That’s all I got.
Nuthin’ on tires specifically. Only on MTBR. In an effort to help set expectations.
Maybe start a new “How do I measure tires?” thread?
Maybe I should start a new “How to set expectations on MTBR” thead.
Or I could post some helpful customer service phone numbers.

I’ve been testing a lot for my South Florida conditions. The final verdict is the Rekon 2.4 on the Rear and the Forekaster 2.4 up front.
Started out with 2 Rekons 2.4’s front and rear.
Kept the Rekon 2.4 on the rear. This is a very fast tire, my Ibis Riley AF was equipped with a Dissector front and a DHR I I rear. This felt very heavy almost designed for light downhill runs.
The 2 Rekon 2.4s were so noticeably faster and nimble, the Ripley felt like a completely different lighter bike.
I found I needed more traction up front than the Rekon 2.4’s had - Felt like I was holding back in corners.
Up front here’s what I found out
The 2.6 Versions of both the Rekon and the Forekaster just felt too big. The Rekons 2.4’s have a very nimble feel that was lost with the larger 2.6 version of the tires.
I was able to get the nimble feel up front by dropping to the 2.4 size Forekaster size.
Nice nimble front tire that you can bash into corners and not feel like you need to hold back - as with the Rekon 2.4.
Your riding environment and bike and riding style will determine everything for you.
I prefer the super nimble and precision like feel that the 2.4 Rekon (r) and Forekaster 2.4 (f) provide. Never felt this with the 2.6’s
My Ripley AF is so much more responsive with this tire combination. Super pleased.
Small is beautiful!
