Hi All, I had a quick question about my 34SC performance fork. Should the grip sweep adjust dial hit a hard stop turning it clockwise to lock out the fork? Mine gets stiff around the 5 o'clock position but you can push it past till it hits almost the back of the crown. I realize now that 5 o'clock position is probably as far as its supposed to go. So my question is - would pushing it past this position cause any damage?
Looking at service documents it seems turning the knob brings a top hat down on a wave washer putting preload on the compression shim stack. I'm not sure if when the adjuster gets firm if its bottoming the tophat on the shim stack/crushing the wave washer or if theres something else limiting its travel. The lockout still works so I'm hoping no potential damage. I'm also pretty sure it used to turn just about all the way around to the crown before firming up before I had sent it to service. So there wasnt actually any room previously to push it past that point.
Looking further at service documents I found conflicting info on fox's website. The service video says turn the compression needle till it hits a soft stop (I think thats what I've been pushing past) and then install the lever as close to the back of the crown as possible. I assume thats how my lever was installed previously. Below the video is the attached diagram which makes it seem like they want you to actually install the lever around the 6 o'clock position.
Thanks all who take the time to read/give input.
