I think 50% of all mtb trails should be allocated for e-mtb use as that's about percentage split currently. It seems like a fair split.

Then we should ban the mtbs from the E-mtb trails!

It's only fair to ban usage of mtb's on emtb trails if e-mtb's are banned on mtb trails. You cant have your cake and eat it to by banning emtbs on some trails then expect to have access to emtb approved trails.

Or....... and here is a novel idea.

We ride our mtbs and Emtb's on the same tracks and get along

Lets have some trails dedicated to ripping down and some for multi-use that you don't rip down on.
Lets build some uphill ebike tracks for the e bikers to shred uphill.
Lets make bike parks suit all biking usergroups.... and stop whining and moaning and tantruming.

Lets become the solution and not the problem.

Lets have E-mtbers build their own trails, starting now!
Round here the builders consist of young groms building there own shredder tracks and old bastards building and maintaining existing tracks. Most of those old bastards are E bikers or have e bikes.

But if you wanted to reduce E usage up your favorite trail, why wouldnt you help make an e-dedicated track?
Lets face it the e bikes dont mind about riding your favourite track. Its you wanting less usage by them.

Be the solution Jayem, not the problem.

You can "be the solution" by getting out and helping with trail maintenance. I don't think we need a rah-rah session about this. The topic has been beaten to death.

I think part of the issue is that some areas (or many areas?) don't build new trails very often, so everyone is trying to figure out how to share what's available. Not a whole lot that you can do in a case like this, except maybe hope that the local advocacy group supports ebike usage.

Around here the best trails seem to be built using ebikes to haul in tools and equipment. 🤷‍♂️
Terrible argument. People use motos to do trail maintenance, atvs for S&R and snow machines for grooming on ski trails.

Just because it's a tool to do the job, doesn't mean it fits all means of recreation.

How so? Maybe you misinterpret my point?

I was responding to the thought that ebikers should build their own trails, implying that they do not build trail. The fact is, they do, and they contribute more than non-ebikers in many cases. When it comes time to build trail, the ebikes often come out to help haul stuff. Has nothing to do with recreational use.

No - I get your point. And it's well known. E-bikes make great trail work tools, or for S&R, even on trails that may not permit them recreationally.

The fallacy is that you equate that trail work with equitable access, and I don't think that's true. I think there's a good case that some trails should be altered for eBike use, and others restricted. Where those cases lie, depends on a lot of factors so I won't make any blanket statements, just say that it's probably something best to work out locally based on terrain, number of riders, demand and resources.
