Anything I should know before I pull trigger?

I’m looking to put together cheap hardtail from spare parts laying around. Want to spend as little as possible. Goal is just put together something to putz around the neighborhood, mainly on mellow bike paths and trails. Maybe take it on some scenic fireroads.

I bought that exact frame in May from Wiggle for $229 + $40 shipping. I honestly have a lot of fun riding this bike the last few months. I've taken it down some tech, flow trails, jump lines and everything in between. It hangs! Also the rear end is compliant like reviewers say, as in it takes out the harsh square edge hits when you start charging and hitting speed. I bought the Ragley Marley because I hated the Diamondback Sync'r bike I pulled all the parts from. Ragley is a brand dedicated to making hardtails and they know how to make a freakin bike! If you have parts for 27.5 it's worth a budget build otherwise, I personally like 29er's because I'm 6'2. Still its a really good frame for $220. I don't regret it one bit.

Just looking at that frame I would've guessed it was extra rigid. (y)

It’s $259 now for frame shipment. 😩

In any case, it seems a little risky now ordering from Chain Reaction or Wiggle. Apparently their parent company has filed for bankruptcy. This means the brands owned by CR & W like Nukeproof, Vitus, Ragley, etc are affected too. Nukeproof shut down their US site very recently.

It’s too bad since the Marley sounded like a great frame for that price.

Bike24 has an okay selection of budget(ish) frames. If you can stretch your budget, they have Stantons. We roll Dartmoor Primals.

Already sorted by price. Prices in Euro. €40 base shipping, plus 20 more for frames.

Thanks. Didn’t find anything that worked with parts I have.

Anyone heard of Poseidon bikes? The only thing that caught my eye is their complete hardtail weighs 33 lbs! That must be a heavy frame

- if you can take your time looking, head to PinkBike and look for a used steel frame; I found a Ti frame for $1200..........

Yea I’m checking pinkbike, Craigslist, etc. but 1200 is too serious investment. I’m really building up a beater bike that I feel ok leaving outside when I get coffee or whatever, so don’t want to invest much.

So for these budget hardtail frames under $500, are they from same factories? I see Chinese knockoff frames and wondering if they are pretty much the same as a Ragley?

Chinese knockoff frames can be okay but they are a risk
