Seems like they have faded away recently. I used to see GGs several years ago but have not seen one on the trails here in Colorado in quite a while. As far as the small guys go, I see Revels and a few Spots still. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Ugh, I hope they have a provision for letting people buy spare parts afterwards or prior to closing.

Assuming the rumors are true.

I still rather love my Shred Dogg, for all its flaws, but would certainly like to make sure proprietary parts are available to keep it running for the longer term.
They stopped carrying spare parts for the aluminum frames awhile ago. Off to search for the bearing numbers.

Make no mistake about my ire in posts #2 & 4 in this thread.
I have no idea whether GG is shutting or staying open.
But the way OP posed the question, with zero context for his reason for asking, well, that's rumor mongering.

I have an '18 GG Smash so naturally I hope GG survives but I'm not here to either defend nor condemn them.
However I will stand up for grace, respectability and personal accountability in a time when virtues such as these seem to losing value at the speed of thoughtlessness.

Agreed verification is important. I did take a quick look on Facebook on the owners group and there are two threads where it is being discussed. Possible "confirmation" from ex employees, but who knows.

I would hope that if it weren't the case, they'd be clarifying that sort of rumor milling pretty quickly.

There's several threads on FB related this ******y:
1. Today's and one a month ago about GG closing
2. The one with the guy getting ghosted with main pivot problems
3. Someone decided to redo main pivot hardware, selling it for $50, and zero response from GG on it.

Then add on the stuff with Yoann and radio silence from GG.

Their IG account is as active as any other small mountain bike manufacturer. Last post being August 16th. [emoji1745]
The rumors by other people (I will only confirm or not confirm what I hear) will continue until GG’s communication improves. They aren’t addressing the rumors that started a month ago, and that’s not helping their cause even if they posted a really cool looking bike for sale 8 days ago.

Let me know if you need bearings... I believe I've got extras.
Aluminum frame bearings, that is.
My GF & I both used to have GG AF bikes... she sold hers a couple years ago.
I believe I have spare bearings for both bikes. Can part with a set if I can find them (and I do know where to look.)

It does seem a bit strange, but also not the first time they’ve missed on the communication side. Maybe they’re just out riding too much while also ramping up on updates to their line. I’m certainly in no position to speculate.

Thanks. I have the same year Smash as you.

The bearings are easy to get, I have an extra set that ill install in my Megatrail frame at some point. Dont need GG for this and you are probably getting crappy enduro bearings from them anyway (like most mtb mfrs).

I took this screen shot for reference. Bearings last forever where I ride but you're right about sourcing quality bearings.

Yeah one of those is a bullshit non-standard bearing you can order direct from Enduro, probably the SM one, but im not at home and cant check, but all in all its not a big deal (for bearings).

I've actually been shocked at how well the bearings have held up. I easily have 2.5 to 3k miles on my Shed Dogg and only just needed to swap the main pivot bearings and the rocker link bearings in the last month. They weren't that bad, but were starting to get a bit gritty/notchy.

If anyone wants I can download all the manuals and make them accessible for everyone before they disappear.
Yes please, that would be appreciated. I think they finally posted technical documents in the last year too which shows hardware order. In one of the threads on Facebook, an ex-employee mentioned that current employees were told today with a last day of next Friday. Also that Revved thermoplastics would remain, but the GG side of the house is shutting down.

Assuming all this ends up being true, doesn't sound like much of a good chance for future support of current owners.

they had some ridiculous sales a while back(50% off a smash build that was the steal of the decade!_), the long awaited trail pistol update thats never emerged... hard to say...

I just rode a new smash about a month back - realized its a pretty brilliant bike off one demo. came oh so close to buying one but sadly - hard to hide a whole bike from +1 who doesn't understand... no what im saying? someone ??? anyone???

hope its just BS as GG started and still do represent what I value in a company...

It’s tough to be a small business right now.

Credit is expensive and cash is hard to come by.

If you weren’t careful with the influx of cash from COVID, you might find yourself in a really tough position now that the bike market has collapsed.

I personally never really found an interest in GG bikes myself, but I still hope they make it.

I like to see options and a diversity of products in the market.
