Well, unsurprisingly, the new Stigmata doesn't disappoint to disappoint me. So... it's basically the Highball with less tire and mud clearance, dated MTB geo and a bit more clearance for bigger chainring, that's the only key. Ah! and a pouch, cool!

Gravel bikes are supposed to be used on gravel ROADS, they should be light efficient road bikes with capability to go on dirt roads, that's it. If you need MTB tires, MTB geo, MTB mud clearance, MTB dropper post, MTB handlebar width, MTB... YOU NEED A F*CKING MTB FRAME, MATE!

IMO this has lost the spirit of the Stigmata, and honestly it misses the whole point. I like the pouch, though. I wish my new Crux had it. byeeee!
Chill, dude—not everyone has the same needs as you, and the only person for whom you get to decide what a bike "should be" is you.

Well, I've made my own decision already and I got a Specialized Crux... which is the modern improved version of the Stigmata, they even have a theme going with the name hahahaha
But you are free, of course, to say and do whatever you want. This is a forum, the point of a forum is to share your experience, give your opinion, ask and answer questions from your own point of view, do we agree on that at least? I'm not telling you what you have to do or say... be a good boy and don't kim-jong-un me, please.

The Stigmata original idea back in 2007 was to have a fast and nimble bicycle, it evolved from CX to gravel but it was still racey-fast-light (those are facts, not my opinion), now it has become something else... and well... IMO, to be honest I don't like it, I don't see the point of it, but hey! that's not a universal rule, again, that's my opinion, I'm just a random guy, nobody. I hope at least they change the name, megastigma or something.

If you want the challenge or eccentricity of under-biking and ride a gravel bike on MTB territory, knock yourself out, I've done it myself. Now, doing so on a "gravel bike" with MTB geo, MTB tires, MTB fork, dropper seatpost... it seems kind of cheating to me... SOFT.

As for the "this guy has already won this race with it", well, good on him, congrats! but he's a pro, he gets paid to ride that bicycle, he would have won on any other bicycle... it's not the arrow, it's the indian.

-Cool story bro...

Modern gravel tires have quickly gone from 38c being "wide" to now 47c is considered wide. I think I saw more 47c Pathfinder Pros at Unbound then I ever have in my life. And having slipped in mud last May on my 38c Pathfinders and broken my ankle, I tend to agree that wider is better as far as stability is concerned.

I ride my MTB (Blur4) on MTB trails and my gravel bike on gravel roads. And paved roads I use a road bike.

new stigmata specs:

The Stigmata was one of bikes I was interested in getting for my next adventure/gravel bike.
Looks like they did not just tweak the geometry, but it got some major changes and what I noticed right off was with much more reach and longer wheelbase on the new model.
I could be mistaken.

Looking forward to reviews and feedback.
Also changed the sizing system from CM to small to XXL.

The new Santa Cruz Stigmata is aimed at breaking down gravel boundaries

I wonder if it is actually suspension corrected for the new generation of gravel forks that have come out in the last few years? I know a few employees run the Fox fork on their stigmata’s, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a suspension option for the new bike. The number one complaint I’ve heard about using it currently, is that it alters the geo of the bike — for racers that want to keep their position and handling, suspension correcting the frame is the answer.
called it!

I was exited for this bike.
But I have to say, it looked better under Keegan than it does in the flesh.
They really slacked this bike out- I think that is fine if you ride really mountain bike type terrain, but for most gravel it is not needed.
Also a heavy frame. C'mon, it is 2023!

-Weight doesn't seem to be slowing Keegan down, so. . . . . . .

I spoke to my local shop today that I have purchased several bikes from the last few years. Blur, BMC 2 Stroke, Orbea Terra, etc....

They told me basically every spec of this bike including frame and fork will be available earliest January 2024. This was confirmed by a conversation with their local Santa Cruz rep. Force 1x may be available earlier (Nov 2023) but potentially not.

I'm just gonna forget about this bike as it's very similar to the OTSO Wahella C that has been available since 2018 and readily available as a frame/fork for $2,000. OTSO is the sister company of Wolf Tooth and their bikes are very popular in MN.

Safe to say Keegan would be winning on any bike that you put under him ;)
Rolling resistance folks also say that he runs slow tires- But then he doesn't flat...

Mornin'! This just reinforces my point. I used to give a chit about weight years ago. . . So much is just placebo effect.
I'll take that stable, sure-footed feel all day long over that nervous, deflecting & concern of frame failure any day. :)
