We were right outside of Ohio on the other side of the river in West Virginia actually which I failed to include. Moundsville, WV. Beautiful place. Grand Vue park. Brutal climbs. It was really hot so we by passed Ohio
But I had a whole list of riding there I wanted to try. Thorn mountain bike trail was one. I might be going back to Michigan in august and intend to hit a few on the way. Thanks for checking in brother.

These are my notes for Ohio camping and riding: these were all of the possible places. But severe weather and heat/humidity had us ride through but not camp or ride and went right to Brighton, MI.
Ohio:
Campground: Pier Lon park, Medina or Findley State park (maybe muddy)
Riding:
Findley State Park, Thorn MTB Trail
Wellington OH
Mill Stream Reserve, Strongsville, OH
Huffman park,
Medina, OH
South Oh:: Bailey’s Trail system, Chauncey, Oh
Strouds Run, Athens, Oh

The rides that I did in Michigan, which was so impressive (Michigan has it going on with mountain bike trails.)
Murray lake Brighton, MI

Island lake state recreation area, Brighton, MI.

Arcardia dunes on the way to sleeping bear plate River campground.

Just a beautiful state. So impressed with the yearly park pass concept. I think they are a proper example of recreation management. Just makes sense. Money goes back to building new trails and maintaining the ones that they have invested in.

Well, for future planning...
Findley SP is nice. Right down the road from where I work. "The Thorn" is usu. dry by May (and frozen by January). Right now it is in stellar condition due to prep for a recent race and various improvements, but it still has 1000 roots and 1000 turns.
If you are staying at FSP, Medina/Huffman trails are an easy 30 minute drive, and offers some easy family trails as well.
Mill Stream Run, aka Royalview, is 2.5mi. from my house. It is open most of the year. Very scenic. Nothing around here is epic or particularly difficult if you like narrow, tight turns and roots. I have done 2 of 3 of these trails in a single day several times.
As you travel south, must-ride trails are Vulture's Knob race course, Camp Tuscazoar, and Mohican SP.
Anything remotely close to Athens will be fantastic. We are doing Lake Hope next month.

Thanks boss. To be clear though, they are notes of possible places to ride for the trip I planned last year. We only had a month on the road and the trip was fluid based on storms, and heat. So I could only do a few on the list pf possible places to go. I do enjoy researching the hell out of maps and MTB project and freecampsites.net.... lololololol

It's a pretty funny story about the route I choose. I had researched for about ten months and reserved campsites up to a few months in advance for an entirely different trip across the country originally. But about a month before liftoff I kept an eye on the weather. My trip was originally going to be a midwestern jaunt riding and camping through IN, MO, AR (bentonville), OK, TX, NM. The heat was going to be a non starter so I had to eat the cost of the few campsites that I had reserved and vowed to not make reservations and changes the entire trip within a 3.5 week span. Thus the fluidity and non concrete agenda. My wife was a trooper through out the entire trip. She quit her job to come with me. Her job told her no such thing and gave her the time and kept her job for her upon our return. Nice people. Just for shits and giggles I might just post all of the research I did as a reference for those who are interested in a cross country trip and for me to go here if I ever loose my phone notes.

I like this post. I to can comment on the Motobecane Night Train Ti Bullet as I bought mine in October 2016. I now have nearly 20,000 miles on the bike and it still looks like new. This bike is currently the only bike I ride. I converted this bike to electric with 400 miles on it. It is my super long distance off road touring bike. I am running a BBSHD at 52 volts and have a 2,640 watt hour battery pack that I can charge from near dead back to 80% in 2 hours. I am still running the original wheel set plus a second wheel set with 40mm rims and Schwalbe G One 2.25" tires. I am still running the original brakes, shifters and derailleur. I am running Jone's H loop bars, a LEV dropper post and Infinity seat saddle.
The one thing I can report that you are unlikely to hear is that I put this bike on the back of my boat for 77 days and 3,250 miles from Madisonville Louisiana to Lorain Ohio this spring. The route I took was across the Gulf, around Florida, up the east coast, Hudson river, Erie Canal and Lake Erie, through a lot of weather and salt spray. The bike did fine with no corrosion except for a few steel screws I had here and there.

I like your listing of mountain bike trails connected by automobile. I thought when I bought the boat that I might be supercharged for that and biking would take a back seat but, that is not the case. The boat is 100% paid for and I can afford the dockage and storage so leaving it sit here and their is not a big deal. Especially since I can travel by boat to many nice biking areas. The biking is necessary to keep my health up.
That said, I built the bike to do the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route or the Western Wildlands Bikepacking Route. My bike ranks poorly when it comes to comparing it to other off the shelf e bikes for power use and mileage but I have a lot of battery. The bike is a beast. My mileage on a full charge is at worst 85 miles and at best 300. My charge rate is about a mile per minute. If I take a 40 minute lunch break I can charge about 40 more miles into the bike. Tor practical use the bike has a 2,650 watt hour battery but actual practice I can use about 1,875 watt hours of that.
Another trip I would like to take is a Michigan loop beginning is Ludington Mi proceeding off road to Mackinaw. Take the ferry to Mackinaw Island and on to St Ignace. Proceed off road to Copper Harbor, then off road back to Kewaunee Wi and take the Badger back to Ludington. A total distance of about 900 miles. I have done much of this route years ago. Fat bike pretty much mandatory because of sand and marshy conditions to be expected throughout much of the route. This is not a route for those wanting creature comforts every night. Most of it is wild camping and only about 10% is on pavement. Loose long sleeves, sweats and head nets would be used at times, especially through the Seney swamps and Hiawatha National forest areas. The possibility of carrying the bike across rivers also exists. Time of year would be late August to late September. I would not do this route is extreme fire danger. Jack pines burn like gasoline. History shows the area is prone to State wide forest fires and forest management has been poor over the last 40 years. (See Peshtigo fires etc 1871) The lower Peninsula of Michigan also burned across the state.

Welcome back folks!
Still loving the bike after 9.3 years. Bought new X7 10 speed shifters and a GX rear der. Had a new 29er wheel set built with dt 350 hubs and wtb i35 rims. Run them with Mezcal 2.6. Fast rolling. Also got a new PNW Range stem and Loam carbon bar. This is my third wheelset for the bike and still run the original wheels in soupy wintery conditions.
A couple of years back I replaced the plastic plunger in the brake levers with aluminum which totally fixed the swelling of the plastic plunger during high temps.
Last summer I went back to Michigan to ride the 29er wheels for 2.5 weeks and rode all of Brighton, DTE, Big M, Acadia dunes.

I did add a bike to the stable on Dec. 31st. A gravel bike named Pumpkin Meat.

I keep a couple of new front chainrings in stock in my garage at all times when I find them on sale.
