Hi,
I'm attempting to upgrade into a full suspension but have come to the realization that options at my price point ($2000-2500) are extremely limited and that I may be better off staying on a HT. But I'm not ready to give up yet as the limiting factor on my rides has been lower back tightness (after around 8-10 mi). I just turned 40 so it's possible that its just the effects of getting older, but I've also been riding an upgraded entry level HT that I've had for close to 7 yrs. It's a Giant Talon 7 ( can't remember the exact year either 16 or 17 I think). Anyway, in my efforts to try and find a FS bike I've started combing through some of the posting on PB and have found some good stuff. I'm just a bit worried about scammers and or fake postings.
Have any of you boughten any bikes from PB? I want to do my due diligence, how do you know if what your looking at is the real deal? I found a post that seems too good to be true. A 2020 Trek Fuel EX for $950, that just seems way too good to be true right? How can I find out if this is an authentic post. I've reached out to the seller with a few questions and will gauge their response. Do you guys have any other advise on how to authenticate a posting? I've viewed his seller history and he has some other bikes on there but none are MTBs. he has a XC bike and some brakes for sale, but I'm unsure of how to gauge this and would be grateful for any other tips.
Also, I'm not very familiar with frame sizing. The listing states it a 17.5 M frame, when I go on Trek's website and view the sizing chart for the current gen Fuel EX there are no measurements with the sizes just M or M/L along with rider height and inseam measurements that are recommended for the corresponding frame size. I'm at 5'9 so based on that chart for this gen Fuel Ex Id probably go with the M/L. If this listing is legit do you think that frame would work for me at 5'9 and 195#?
Lastly, is there any payment service that holds the funds until I can verify that I got what I thought I paid for? If not, how have you approached getting payment over to the seller without being completely exposed?
Here's the post in question:
Thanks in advance for your recs!
Cheers,
Abe
