Looking into accomodations, it appears Bear Creek resort has upped thier room price from $150/night to $500 for the week of nationals. Anyone else have a good option nearby?
When I raced nationals at Bear Creek in 2013 and 2014 I stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Allentown. It's a bit of a drive but I was able to trade some old airline miles for free rooms. Simple but clean. It has been a decade, however, so cannot speak for how it currently is. But Allentown should have a TON of lodging options if you are willing to drive a bit.

Do we even have a course profile? Pretty ridiculous seeing we are 2 week a out from the event and some people are leaving next week. So much for specializing for an A race.

I have a house rented and we will get there around July 1st.

They usually race the men immediately after the women, which makes it pretty terrible for me to race straight from the feed zone of my wife’s race. I’m imagining my cortisol is jacked from her racing before I even line up. Usually just a parade lap for me.

In winter park, my derailer pulley snapped in the start loop which to me dropping the chain 10 times and Jonathan Lee talking trash on his podcast about people getting callups for USAC points.

The only info on the website is the Fan & Rider code of conduct. Everything else says coming soon. USAC is a complete mess. They have have almost no one working for them anymore. The contact info they have listed are for people they fired more than a month ago. 🤡 show.

I checked the pre-reg lists out of pure curiosity, and it definitely seems to be light on participants. I suppose there are always the last minute people, but still...
They do not have the resources to do amateur road nats, pro road nats and MTB nats 3 weekends in a row. They can't even secure a venue for collegiate MTB nats this fall, which athletic departments want budgeted out 4 months ago. USAC sucks....oh but I forgot..... Bentonville is cool. Middle finger emoji here.

Bear Creek map has been posted. Preliminary Map
My understanding is that the course that was run on June 4 is pretty much the course that will be run for nationals. There might be some tweaking to the prologue.

Sorry. They usually have a profile on those maps. Here's the strava link. Bear Creek 2023 View attachment 2044316
They changed the start from this, still the same course but now you go up that second finger first for the start (file into left hand climb ST .2 miles from the start, ouch) and finish on the berms trail finder extension. Also rumors that they were going to take out the heckle pit but looks like g Kline saved it.
Racing thurs and friday if anyone is out there!

Flying out from CO tomorrow. How has the air quality been?

Whats everyone thinking of the course? I am racing the red one and its probably the most technical course I have ridden, especially considering the muddy conditions. Seems like it will be a lot of walking in a race situation.

It’s typical east coast rocks. Slippery when wet. Pray it’s dry and for the most part it is rideable then for most people.

I racing he white one. I like it but I have raced at Bear Creek more times than I can count and most of my home trails are similar to the ones at Bear Creek.

The mud should have dried some today. There are some spots on the course that tend to be damp even when we haven't had a lot of rain. The lowest elevation flow trails tend to be wet or soft every time I race there. There is a spot on the old mining trail(smooth double track on the left side of mountain going up) that is always damp and slick. Where we make the 180 degree hard left after the start is always wet. There is also a section on the white course after the first section of flow trails by the pond that is always wet.
