What width does these rims make the Vee 2XL tires out to? I'm thinking it would fit my Triple B, I like the V-shape better than the 100's I'm using.

Not yet sure -- first rims look to be landing tomorrow.

On the edge of my seat... Waiting for your findings, Mike. This oughtta be interesting in seeing the genuine potential of double XL's.
Pfft! Need to size up the Mayor V4 and see if this might be an option.

Probably not a rim I will ever need to run, though I'm happy that it exists if that changes, but regardless, the name is awesome!

[Drunken Rhinoceros] 26" Fat Rim 128mm
Utterly amazing to me that it took 11 days for this to be commented on...

Anyone that has clicked on this thread is undoubtedly capable of spreading calipers ~120mm apart and registering what they're seeing.

Which is very different from seeing these rims in the flesh for the first time, or snapping a pic of them next to a known quantity like a 100mm Surly Clownshoe:

I'll refrain from conjuring any hyperbole at this point and just let that pic do the talking to those that know what it's saying.

Johnny 5 on the left on a 99mm internal width rim. Shaved-knob 2XL on a 120mm Drunk Rhino on the right.

121mm casing width for the J5, tubeless. 136mm for the 2XL with a tube, 139mm tubeless.

All measured at 7psi on a low-pressure Meiser gauge.

Both tires well used/stretched.

did you come up with the name, or was that Nextie's doing?

(raises hand)

Wanted the name to be evocative of what it's like to ride a bike that could fit these, at appropriate pressures, in apt terrain...

How tough was it to get that 2XL tire seated?

Tough? Not at all.

Patience was required more than anything else.

I tubed it to seat the beads, then removed the tube and inflated tubeless. I used a Bontrager Flash Charger pump and it took three full pressure "shots" to get it seated.

Each 'shot' moved the bead farther out, but there's sooooooooo much air volume it needed three.

That looks awesome. Is that laced offset? What is the drivetrain setup?

Currently laced like this:

Will lace it (and an identical mate) late next week to a 150/197 pair of DT 350 hubs.
