I’m getting back into it after a tib/fib fracture earlier this year. What are some easy trails around Portland? Hagg Lake and the Molalla River Corridor Trails come to mind but from past experience with Hagg Lake, it is super muddy this time of year and I’m unsure if the Molalla River trails are open. I might give the Gales Creek/Storeyburn loop a try but that might be more than I can pull off at this time.

Molalla north end trails are open to bikes year round, and are maintained and clear currently. South end trails are open May 15 to October 15. Currently in the process of getting them cleared.

Has anyone tried Chehalem Ridge?

I saw guys unloading bikes in like January, and they said it’s a good spot to ride until better trails dry out. I’ll post if I ever get over there…seems like too little trail for the 50 minutes drive to the TH.

I have not been out to Rocky Point in years. Are the north side trails technical?
haven’t ridden there in maybe two years since I moved. But I wouldn’t really call Rocky Point technical. There are a couple old DH sections scattered about. But for the most part, it’s easily ridden on a hardtail. I haven’t kept up as much as I used to, but I know recent emails have mentioned trail closures so definitely look that up. They get logging activity from time to time and have to restrict use in certain zones.

RP on the northside is not very technical. Northside is more XC with a couple areas of tech but nothing crazy. The southside has become very technical and more DH oriented.

However, RP is completely closed from today (May 8th) until May 13th.

You also have to be a standing NWTA member and have filled out the waiver form. You can find all info here:
