In reality there is a large market for this and that is aging boomers with lots of
Money and low/limited mobility…it’s not a very sexy marketing campaign however….ever watched an adult diaper commercial and thought. “oh wow that’s AWESOME”

showing a Bunch of young people running through the woods vs a parade of seniors
Walking the halls of the seniors home to play bridge is probably a more successful spin and makes people feel better about requiring one of these products
Good points but if this thing actually works it will be used by fit 30 year olds because they think it’ll help them go ‘harder’. Most e-bikes I see are used by younger fit people, not 70 year olds still trying to ride.

Ironically the 30 year olds won’t go harder, they just won’t gain the fitness to enable them to go harder. Same thing with newer younger e-bikers, they ride fast out of the box…no need to develop skills or session a technical climb to figure out the line. It reminds me of amateur auto racing, the new racer in a Corvette will never be better than the Spec Miata guy, though he’ll certainly be faster.

I saw a kickstarter for one of those last week; can't wait to read all the posts in hiker forums with people talking about how they can "get in their miles in half the time" because they live such busy and important lives...

Wonder if the battery runs out if you stuck putting in "extra effort to walk" the way a stranded ebiker has to ride a heavier bike with extra resistance in the drivetrain. At least they can take it off and then just have the extra weight to carry... :)

This convo is already 4 pages deep...
