Hey all, hope you can help.
I have an Orbea Rise with Shimano EP8 motor. And I need a bash ring.

Do they exist? I can’t seem to find anything.

I tried an ISCG mounted bash guard and broke the mount in one ride. On my Amish bikes I have happily used bash guards for decades with no drama.

Does anyone make one compatible with the Shimano E bike mounting standard?

Thanks in advance.

Have a Rise too..would be interested myself...BTW Great photos-where is this!? I must make a trip sometime
( It sure doesn't look like SoCal :)
Yeah, that place looks super fun. +1 on the location reveal.

OP, there are no bash guards for ebike cranks that I can find since none of the frames come with mounts and all the cranks are direct mount to the motor. The Wolf-Tooh Camo bash spider would be ideal but once again they don't make anything that match the motor mounts to my knowledge.

Your best bet is something like the RockGuardz but make sure you put a bunch of helitape around the frame or the guard will scratch the sh1t out of it.

Location it Prescott Arizona on a brand new trail in the top two with more to come. It is a Ebike paradise if you like technical terrain.

My searching findings concur. Frame scratches don't bother me at all. I just don't want to kill my chain and chainring on the very frequent boulders I go over. The problem is exacerbated by the stupid low BB and long wheelbase on the Rise.

I use the Wolf Tooth Camo on other bikes and it works well. I am shocked at the lack of bash guard availability beyond that on modern 1X drivetrains. Apparently no one rides in rocks any more.

That thing is really cool

Enel- you broke a skid style basher?, how was the fitment on the Rise?? Used to beat the crap out of those on some older bikes with 2x drivetrains no issues, haven't used one in awhile but was wondering if one would fit my Rise as I've broken one and cracked the 2nd plastic motor cover thingy

It was a One Up components Bash that I attached via the mounting holes I saw in the frame. The bash component is fine, but it tore out of the front mounting hole. I was assuming these area ISCG05 mounts on the frame, but now I am not so sure. I have heard that Shimano has a totally different type of mounting system standard for their chain guides etc ("STEPS").

I need to remove the Cranks tonight and get a better look at things and can post more photos. I thought I was mounting to the frame but it may have been the motor actually. Either way it was too fragile.

The last photo is just an example of my Camo Bash ring after about a year and a half on the single speed.

FYI: I found this product that looks pretty decent. I can't tell if it will help protect the chainring though. I went ahead and ordered one to try since I hit the motor housing a lot anyway.

Yeah the tabs are incorporated into the motor, not the frame itself, should be plenty strong tho. I wasn't sure how it would fit w/ tight spacing between motor/chainring, good to know it fits. If I rip off a 2nd plastic motor cover might have to look into something like what you posted

Here is a closer look at the Amygos protector. Not shilling for them at all, just the best protector i could find for the Rise. Also, on the chain side, you could move the protector down further and cover the chain if you wanted. I didn't cuz i am more concerned with the motor overheating than i am about ripping the front of my chain off.

It didn't fit without a little griding of the bash device. Very tight quarters between the mounts and the chainring.

That looks a lot better than the other brand I am ordering one. Thanks for the recommend, and the excellent photos. The price plus shipping to Etats-Unis is pretty breathtaking though.

Definitely a little pricier, but better than bouncing my poor motor off all the stumps and rocks. It's really well made and even has a piece of foam under the plastic, so that if you do bash the guard, it provides a cushion vs just sending all the energy straight to your bike.

It's worth it. I clearly hit a lot of ****. Need to learn to ride better.

Update: the Amygos product is wonderful. It also protects the chainring.

It arrived from France reasonably fast. Buy with confidence. I tested it out and it didn’t break on the first ride anyway.

Spanish Frame, French Armor, Japanese motor. What a world
