are both these products essentially trying to achieve the same thing? supple off the top and more supported in the mid stroke?

I guessing they probably shouldn’t be used together…is there a reason to choose on over the other?

You'd have to spill some more info before anyone can help you with recommending one or the other for your case.

But I've found the stock air-cans to be better on almost all applications.
I'm speaking more in generalities...but I have a cascade link on my bike now....was thinking about switching my shock to SD w/ Megneg....I'm a lightweight rider (145lbs) so I usually look for light compression/rebound, light off the top feel....wanted to try to not use the CC because I want to keep the travel to 150 instead of the added 15mm of travel the link gives, but I like the way the link makes the bike ride...maybe wanting something that gives it that feel

We have no clue what bike you’re talking about.. it all depends on the kinematics specific to your frame. To your question tho, I never felt or noticed a meaningful difference between standard and Meg with CC link on my Hightower V2. I switched back to standard and haven’t looked back. You would be better off sending your shock off to have it Tractive Tuned by Vorsprung suspension.

I also have a hightower V2 with cascade link. Before the link I was switching back and forth the megneg, but in the end preferred without. Switching to stock link in winter for more pedal friendly rides.
Tractive tuned it and liking it very much!
Next summer I will try again the megneg but still a bit skeptical ...

I'm also a light rider who tried the Megneg because I was looking for better small bump. I didn't really like it either. Sure, it gives you a better off the top feel, when you push down on the saddle with your hands... But when actually riding the bike, I don't think I ever really noticed better small bump compliance. On my frame it also made the mid stroke a bit too harsh. In the end I was riding it full of negative spacers with close to the same pressure as with the standard air can, so I didn't see the point in using it anymore. I like to think of the Megneg as riding a standard air can with higher pressures and "forced sag".

This is just my opinion/experience, but I also found that chasing small bump compliance/off the top feel endlessly is a bit pointless. No matter how smooth your suspension is, on smaller bumps the tyres are doing most of the work anyways. IMO sorting out the mid stroke, end stroke, and damping is far more important and makes a much bigger difference. But that's just my opinion again.

If you arent getting low speed support without harshness when you turn up your low speed compression dial, its likely because your OEM damping circuits are jacked up, like most OEM.
