When putting everything back together I wiped all the grease out and applied a thin layer of Slickoleum. Can anyone tell me if that’s a good/bad idea?

I don’t have any of the DT Swiss grease. The hub is noticeably louder with the Slickoleum. Only other grease I have is a grey tube of Super Lube which I think is way too thick

Mix DT Swiss grease and Slick Honey depending on location. DT Swiss on the teeth area on ratchet themselves and freehub, then Slick Honey everywhere else. Been using the setup for the last 9,000 miles on my DT350 fleet.

I'd prolly be more likely to just use one type of grease for everything, cause I might be lazy.
In my personal opinion, Slick Honey would be on the periphery of being a little thick for a Star Ratchet, but if thinly applied, I think that would be acceptable. NLGI Grade (thickness) comparisons - Slick Honey is 1.5 and DT Swiss and Dumonde Tech is 0.

I generally run freehub grease (Dumonde Tech) in the summer and several different oils in the winter depending on my mood.

Slick Honey is probably the same as Slickoleum? Interesting that a thinner grease (DT Swiss) is quieter than a thicker grease (Slickoleum)… assuming Slickoleum is same NLGI grade as Slick Honey

Yes, Slick Honey and Slickoleum are the same.
The thinner grease will be perhaps a little louder, but it's not about quieter, it's about using a grease too thick that the star ratchet will possibly skip across the teeth without fully engaging. This could be more pronounced in colder temps.
