Need some help. I bought a new Scott spark 940 in March 2020. Did about 9000km on it till date. Last week I replace my tyres and found leaks at a lot of spoke holes. Replaced the rim tape but still the same problem. After a closer inspection I found that my rim was cracked at several places on the inside and a few small cracks at a few spokes. Anyone else experienced somthing like this and what can cause it. And any suggestions on what rims to gwt as replacements Thanks

That is a strange place to get cracks. Usually cracks like that appear where the nipples thread in due to the tension. Must just be bad manufacturing. They should still be under warranty. Personally I’d see if they would give you a big discount on a higher end wheel set.

Hi, I have some information that you may find useful. I bought a new spark rc team in May 2022 with synchros silverton 2.5 wheels. After just three months I got similar cracks to yours (I only noticed them where the spokes insert into the rim.) I do normal XC rides and had not changed the tension of the spokes, so I found very strange. I took them to my local shop and they told me that they were to consult with Scott. A few weeks later I heard from them that they were going to provide me a replacement. By chance, I realised they had another syncros wheel with exactly the same problem, which makes me believe it is not an unusual problem for these wheels. My guess is that Scott is well aware of this and they may be willing to provide you a free replacement. Hope it helps.

I have the same problem. It looks like very poor qualety rim.

I have the same problem. However, I don't ride much so it took a little longer before they cracked. Mine also come from a Scott Spark RC team from 2022, taken out in 2023. After about 9000km and two and a half years, the rear wheel cracked at 6 spoke holes. I only ride on dirt roads, gravel roads and easy trails with my bike.
