Nice. Curious about this shock with the v3, how you do like it? I've had a number of different ones on mine but haven't tried this one. It's such a great bike to try different shocks on.
I've had it for a month now and love it. Zero stiction, unlike the DPX2. Came with the smaller volume spacer in it, just threw the biggest one in with another band spacer and it's as "poppy" as my DPX2 was but with better traction on the trails. My buddy who has an Ohlins coil said it feels almost like his coil setup. I've got it setup so on my biggest drops/jumps I'm ~5-7mm from using full travel. My only complaint is the fact that you need a 3mm allen key to adjust the LSC & rebound.

Thanks for the info. The combo of poppy and traction you mention is very interesting. I find with many shocks, it's hard to get the poppy without losing too much traction, and vice versa.

No worries! Yeah, I think the best way to describe it is like Jeff Kendall-Weed said, it's feels like it's in between a DPX2 and X2.

The X2 feels real nice on this bike but it does tend to erase the trail a bit more than I want sometimes on more mellow rides. I'm trying out some custom tuned DPS shocks on mine right now. Obviously not the best shock for bigger chunk at speed but it makes the v3 feel like a jump bike, so light too. I may try the Ohlins you have now next!

I rode a YT Decoy with an X2 and loved it. Almost got an X2 for the 5010 but I'm kind of over FOX products at the moment. Also read that the X2, as you said, can sometimes "erase" the trail which isn't what I want. Watched Jeff's review of the Ohlins and read the few other reviews out there, decided it was worth trying and so far couldn't be happier.

Been busy with my 5010 since I picked it up.

-RockShox RC2 damper
-27.5" Race Face ARC30 rims w/ Onyx hubs
-Deity 50mm rise handlebar and stem
-Deity pedals
-AXS GX Eagle drivetrain
-SRAM Code R brakes
-rubber ducky companion
-2hr coaching session to get better!

I can't decide if it's fine to swap out my Truvativ crank for GX Eagle. Not sure how much of a difference there is between the 2 cranks!

Truvative and sram are the came company.. so basically the same cranks with different graphics unless you care comparing alu to carbon.

I finally got the bike I've been after for a long while now. Previous owner just had it just sitting the garage for years and was pretty rough when I bought it Friday. After a thorough washing, bleeding the brakes and Reverb then added more sealant to the tires it was good as new. This thing is sooooo fun to ride. Climbs great and blasts by on the flats and downhill trails.

2015 C medium
Raceface Next SL carbon cranks
DT Swiss Rovel 135 hubs and carbon wheels
Reverb dropper
XT brakes
Sram X01 11spd shifter and derailleur
Santa Cruz carbon bars
Rockshox Pike
Fox CTD

With pedals and cage it weighs in at 26.4 pounds

Nice, I've been wanting an early version 5010 for a bit but all the ones I find are in Canada. The search continues.

I got lucky on this one. It had just rolled into the store as a trade in and I called dibs even before it was processed. The dropper needs a rebuild though. It has the dreaded Reverb sag. Not bad enough to not ride but it's there.
