I’ve had a fair amount of practice with my road bikes removing tubeless tires. It’s almost always tight, but I’ve never had an issue scratching rims.
Removing the tires on my Roval Control SL, I was surprised how easily the rims scratched. The fit isn’t THAT tight. I can easily get one lever under the bead once I get both beads in the center channel on the rim. But when I’m sliding the second lever against the edge of the rim to get the bead over the edge, it invariably scratches up the rim.
Obviously, it’s 100% cosmetic, but is there some secret trick to getting the tire off with zero scratching?
