love these bikes. after playing with the cockpit setup i think i prefer a bit shorter stack on the rail to keep the front weighted. otherwise it’s pretty close on both bikes. got one smaaaaall knock on the rail still under torque when pedaling but otherwise it is perfect. i can’t believe how soft this bike feels off the top.

When I saw the geometry and wheelbase, I was pretty sure it would be nimble compared to all the ships out there now. I just got a Ripmo and am surprised at how nimble it is, because I have a Ripley too. The Rail has very similar geo and looks to be a long-travel great trail bike. I'd have to build it as light as possible (SRAM build in that case) since my XT builds are never as light as I hope. Will check this review.

I appreciate revels more conservative geometry but it seems like they didn't leave much room for a Rascal update.

If they made a rascal V2 that was a degree slacker, that would be, for me, a perfect bike. At that point though what purpose would the rail 29 have?

The Rascals suspension is super capable, a 155mm version must be insane. Seems like they could have pushed the boat out a little further but again maybe that's because selfishly I'd like to see a rascal with a 150 fork and 65 degree head angle and with the rail 29 being what it is, that is less likely. Another reason why a move away from the IS headset would be nice, to allow the bikes to pick up some more versatility.

Currently running a 150 fork on my Rascal, head angle is 64.5* fork is 44mm offset so it helps keep the wheelbase similar actually slightly shorter by a few mm. I looked at the geo on the Rail and it's very close to the Rascal. 1* steeper seat and 1* slacker head angle with taller stack and shorter top tube higher BB. I don't really know what they could do to update the Rascal aside from possibly steeper seat angle which would make it very close to the Rail without the extra travel.

Has anyone come across the potential of a creaking Chris King bottom bracket? I was recently told, they are noisy as ****, because of the plastic shims. I was told that going with an XT would be a better choice. Anyone else similar experience.

I think you mean 65.5 not 64.5. Increasing the fork length by 10mm slackens the bike half a degree.
I have a short offset 160, head angle is about 65.

I've had a handful of King bottom brackets over the years, including 3 on bikes currently in my stable. No creaking.

I was hoping for a mullet rail 29.

Would love to hear a review on the dhx2 and the measured weight with the Sar spring.

I'm moving away from the EXT only because I want more local service options other than their Utah location.

Yeah. Wanted something new.
Is there a technique in deciding the best stack height or spacers under your stem? Ive always added enough where I started to pop wheelies during steep climbs then took out a spacer. Many people slam it but it's uncomfortable for my inflexible old body

There is… this might be the best $50 I've spent in all of my years of riding.
