Hey guys.

I have a Selva C (29, 160mm travel) which I'd like to reduce to 140 (ish). I investigated the air route, but it is cost-prohibitive. Now, officially there is no way to do this. However, there is a 15mm spacer on top of the spring which got me thinking.

My idea is to simply remove this spacer and add a 3d printed 15mm spacer underneath the spring shaft sealhead. Voila, 145mm travel.

There is no issue with stanchions impacting the casting since the fork (in air configuration) can be set at a lower travel.

I think the main difficulty would be printing a spacer which will not budge. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

This fork at 145 is really really good. I found at 160 it is a bit too flexy (100kg), but on a trail bike (130 travel) this may be best fork for the money (apart from terrible seals and frequent lower leg services).

Note that my fork has 5mm lower ATC than a RS equivalent so this is a perfect replacement to the 140 fork that was on my trail bike (Bird Aether).

A RS 35mm token. I just used my Dremel to create a clip on token, similar to normal travel spacers. I don't have any pictures, sorry. If you have a lathe it would be even easier and 3d printing is probably the best solution . Note that this only works with 29er versions of the fork that have the spring spacer above the spring.

When you say there is no official way to do this, did you contact Formula? I just took a look at the Formula YouTube Selva travel change video, and it mentions that the aftermarket box contains 2 20mm spacers and 2 10mm spacers. It showed the installation on the coil and air forks. I assume that the installation of an included 20mm spacer would reduce the travel of the 160mm fork to 140? I'm working on a new bike build and need something in the 140mm travel range, and am looking hard at a Selva C.

I think you are confusing Selva C with Selva R or S. There is no official way to reduce the travel of a Selva C, confirmed by Formula ( and by simply opening the fork and having a look :) ).

Ok thanks for the reply, that's helpful info! The youtube video didn't specify which fork they were working on, so when I saw the coil come out, i thought it was the Selva C, not the S.

Sure, I'm thinking about 3d printing some spacers to make any travel between 145 to 160mm travel possible with the non extended selva c for anyone to use. I'll let you know as soon as the files are ready.
