Setting up a new 2021 Ripmo V2 XL … would appreciate any advice on starting points:

1). Rider Stats = 6’-2” & 220lbs

2). 2022 Fox Factory 36 - 160mm Fork (aftermarket - non Ibis traction tune)

3). Fox X2 Rear Shock (Ibis Traction Tune)

Any recommendations on were to start with the fork? Fox’s Setup Guide indicates starting with 15%-20% sag?

Has anyone noticed the drastic difference in recommended air pressure between the X2 set up guide on the ibis website, and the guide on the Fox website?

Ibis set up guide recommends 272 psi for a 200lb. rider

Fox recommends matching psi to rider weight in pounds, 200 psi for a 200 lbs. rider, and then adjust to achieve desired sag.

Any insight on the drastic difference? Can the traction tune really account for this?

I'm building up a Ripmo V1 which came with a 2021 X2 shock:
Short ID: D7J4
Description: 2021, FLOAT X2, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Ibis, Ripmo, 210, 55, 0.3 Spacer x1, CL001, ECR012, Rezi CM, Neutral, Neutral Logo

So it's indeed intended for the Ripmo. But since the V2 ripmo is more progressive and this one is porbably set up for the V2, would it be right to asume it could use more spacers to add more progressivity to the wheel rate? Seems many are riding the less progressive V1 with 3 spacers instead of the 1 spacer in the one which came with the frame.

Alex,

I just got a 2022 Ripmo Large Deore package and the X2 has different #s of clicks. Thinking I can use your 2019 click counts but I only have 8 clicks on HSR.

Here are the total click counts from closed to open for the 2022.

HSC - 10
LSC - 18
HSR - 8
LSR -18

Should I be looking in another thread to find the 2022 recommended settings? I'm your same weight so thought I could try your settings first except for the "only 8 clicks of range" in the HSR back threw me off.

Hi Guys
I just upgraded from Ripmo V1 to V2.
On the V1 I needed 4 spacers in the X2 for adequate progression. On the V2 it looks like 2 spacers are already too much?!
How many tokens do you ride in the V2 at ~200lbs?

at the Set-Up PDF

I'm riding the Ripmo V2 in L, 2022.
My setting for plush riding:
Weight 80kg to 82kg with hipbag
X2 Ibis trailtuned
Volumespacer not oppened yet😁
210 PSI
SAG 30% = 16,5mm
LSC 14 (good for me and the lot
HSC 6 of roots)
LSR 14
HSR 8

Fork FOX Factory 170mm, aftermarket
PSI 67
SAG 48mm to 50mm
Roundabout 28-30%
1 Spacer
LSC nearly full open 16
HSC 6
LSR 15
HSR full open 8

I will post a picture from my IBIS in the V2 tread

So I just installed a new Grip 2 Damper in my 2019 fox fork. How many clicks of HSC and LSC are their supposed to be? I found 30 and 8 respectively.

EDIT
I just realized I typed HIGH speed.... I meant LOW speed.
The LOW SPEED should have 16. The HIGH speed has 8.

Late response, but incase you didn't get an answer. Fox has stated that the GRIP2 damper has 16 useable clicks of HSC LSC. anything beyond this has no effect. Apparently some dampers shipped without the stop in place.
Is yours a 2020, or a 2021 with VVC?

My 2022 GRIP2 w/ VVC only has 16 clicks and then locks.

FWIW, since I stumbled on this thread, I'll add my (current) settings.
175# in gear
Ripmo AF

Fox36 w/GRIP2 VVC
PSI: 70 (25% sag)
HSC 6 (from closed)
LSC 11 (from closed)
HSR 8 (from closed)
LSR 13 (from closed)

X2 (long shock 8.5x2.5)
190 psi (28-ish % sag)
2 vol spacers
HSC 3 (from open/soft)
LSC 5 (from open/soft)
HSR 2 (from open/fast)
LSR 2 (from open/fast)

Both the shock and damper are fairly new, so there might be tweaks here and there in the future, but I haven't changed much in a few rides now, and like how it feels.

It’s a 2019 grip 2 damper I got on sale from Jenson in 2020. Finally got around to installing it a couple of weeks ago.

What about LSC clicks?

EDIT
see above... I typed HSC.. I MEANT LSC. brain gltich.
the LSC has 16 useable, and early GRIP2 dampers lacked a stop block of some sort there...

Sounds like you just have one without the little stop...screw? block? i dunno.
Either way, if you close the damper (full firm/closed) you have 16 clicks of adjustment, 17-30 don't do anything.

my HSC has 8 clicks, and they're veeeerrrry close together. I think all 8 make up like 1/2 turn of the knob.

Off-handedly... not judging you at all, but man that's wild you bought an upgrade to (IMO) the single most important part of the fork and didn't put it in for over 2 years.
I install parts in most cases --the same DAY-- as the mailman drops the off. :ROFLMAO:

Not sure if anyone has posted something earlier but I’ll post this first. I have a Ripmo af with a coil and a traction tune dpx2 which I like for its light weight and it’s progressive poppy nature. Coil is ace but I’m still puzzling with the dpx2.

Anyway at 95kgs (210 pounds) to get about 28% sag I need to run about 280psi or thereabouts but this leaves the shock a little wooden. If I take out too much more air the shock sits a little too deep in its travel for pedalling. Has anyone figured out this conundrum with a specific air pressure/lsc/rebound combination? Maybe it’s just not possible with this shock for my weight?

Should I just sell the dpx2 and the jade x and get a new x2 instead? Haha.

I recently got a 2019 Ibis Ripmo with stock X2 and Factory 36 fork. I'm having a hard time getting the suspension dialed in and would love to know how others my size have their shocks setup (note, my rider weight is about 195lbs).
