I used a cane creek EC 44/40 bottom head tube cap. I had to shave off about 3mm off the inner cap that goes into the head to sit flush. And used the original top cap bearings. I plan to change out later since cane creek is capatable.
I ended up with a Rock shock recon tapered fork. Lol.. Im really proud of it and how it ridesSo which fork will you go with?
Thank you.... This upgrade was actually to see if I could make my straight head tube to take a tapered fork. The Recon was a practice run and for now will make do. Still learning and now I will be looking into the box 3 Prim 9 set to change out the stock derailleur, cassette and switch. As much as I've love riding I also like tinkering. I do appreciate the info. The Recon is an air fork upgrade.
The compression damper gets overloaded at higher speeds on bumpy downhill sections.
Because of the inner stanchion dimension, you can't upgrade that damper.
If you're considering any upgrades for your bike, a post will get you info and recommendations.
I will, thank you for the info..You can look at Advent X drive components too. Microshift
Lol.. thank you. It's actually the stainless steel stand you check your hand carry into the airport to make sure your hand carry luggage is the right size. A friend ordered the bike vice on Amazon and the rest is plywood screwed on.Your bike stand is great! Looks like it might be a dual purpose stand?
BTW, The Recon is a good entry level air fork...
And Thank you for the encouragement on my airfork. I know there is a lot of ways to upgrade, but my small accomplishment is filling for me.Lol.. thank you.
