I've had some truly horrible grips. Burgtec Bartender Pros feel like those chewable toothbrush things you used to get in airport toilet vending machines. I also had a set of Renthal Super Tacky or whatever they’re called and they work but every time I handled them without gloves I felt like I needed to wash my hands.

My big hands love Ergon GA2 FATs. I bought some Deity Supracush recently and they’re a close second. The Ergons are firmer and harder wearing, and they lock in to the end of the bars better. I find the Supracush just a little bit too soft and get pressure points at the base of my thumbs on long rides.

Always black for me. I've got red forks and cranks so I feel like enough of a narna as it is.

You keep your OEM pedals?

Anyway, I like cheap EBay foam grips. Comfy and light, but I typically have to replace them every year. And yes, all my grips are black. I put matching yellow grips on my yellow bike once and they looked disgustingly grimy after only a couple of rides.
no new factory bike I have bought in >30 years came with pedals....most don't supply pedals

One thing that I always change out right away is the OEM air in the tires. I replace it with nitrogen and the improvement in performance is literally incredible. Plus, the sooner you change out the stock air the more you can get for it on the resale market before you've put too many miles on the new bike.
I put a strychnine pellet in my new bike tires to keep crackheads from stealing factory air

gotta be quick tho... lost the factory air on my first attempt. had to throw that bike away, the air wasn't warrantied

Exactly my setup! Color and all. Love Rogues. Have been mostly running them for 10+ years. That said. had a couple of sets of the pivot factory grips that I got with my bike and I really liked them. I just kept tearing the ends off of them. I like the Locking ring on the outside for armoring purposes.
Too funny, I had the same issue with those padloc grips. Really comfortable but every tree gate was potentially a torn grip. The lockring is great, no lost bar end plugs when you hit a tree.

Great idea! I will see if my local drug shop can hook me up with some strychnine the next time I'm there buying arsenic.

I change my grips annually. Currently favoring ErgonGA2s with lock-on feature. Would prefer foam Ergon grips but my sweat defeats most foam grips within a couple rides during humid months.

don't forget

coupon code deity-mania is 10% off anything on deity site

[this thread got me thinking about using two different grip colors on one bike
and then for the other bike]

I use ESI’s too. Fantastic grip, got me through Maah Daah Hey 100 last year sans gloves.

Just added a pair to my SWorks Epic last weekend.

I've been using ESI grips (extra chunky) for almost 7 years now, not going back. Comfort is great and grip even under rain / mud is good. (I don't wear gloves)
Can't understand the crappy quality of grips, even in sworks or any top level bike, first thing to do on a new bike is to change grips.
