I was lucky enough to grab a Nukeproof CUB SCOUT 26 Race when it popped up on Chain reaction, and I was wondering if anyone could help recommend a dropper post?
Thanks,
Thanks,
you find anything? Was looking for something similar for my son's transition ripcord 24" that doesnt have any internal routing. Pickings seem pretty slim. KS Lev C Carbon 65mm, expensive though, like $350 on ebay. TranzX says they make a 65mm externally routed one for 27.2mm and I figure could get a shim, but I cant actually find the 65mm one for sale anywhere - TranzX-inspring your rideQuick update on this one, I ordered the Brand-X kids dropper for my oldest son's Cub Scout 26. Installed easily and works perfectly.
My middle son wants one now, he's riding the 24" Pello Reyes, which is specced with a 31.6 post, but no internal routing, so I need to find a short travel, externally routed post...
I used an external KS lev one for my boys ripcord a few years back. you want one you can adjust the air pressure on. Don't use a shim.you find anything? Thanks, was looking at the ks lev ones but seems like they've been discontinued so hard to find in stock. Was it the ks lev c carbon or a different one your son had?I used an external KS lev one for my boys ripcord a few years back. you want one you can adjust the air pressure on. Don't use a shim.
We got to the point where my nearly 6 year old was getting too tall for his 20" so we moved him to the Pello and I got the 8 year old a Nukeproof Cub Scout 24 with the BrandX kids dropper.you find anything? 100mm standard one - still in use on another bike. using a 75mm internal one on the youngest's bike. Got it from germany. Thanks, was looking at the ks lev ones but seems like they've been discontinued so hard to find in stock. Was it the ks lev c carbon or a different one your son had?
What's the reason not to get a different diameter and use a shim?
This has been where we've been at so far -- with doing mostly XC riding, any time they've been able to ride with the seat high enough to accommodate a dropper it's been more beneficial to just move them up to the next wheel size. The youngest one doesn't have enough seat post exposed at the moment to be able to use a dropper so I'll look again next year…
It's totally fine to use a shim with a dropper post. I've done it on several bikes with no problems. Specialized even sells one: Seatpost Shim 34.9OD - 30.9ID | Specialized.comWhat's the reason not to get a different diameter and use a shim?

thanks, will send you a PM!Hey Jaybert,
I have a KS Lev dropper post that you can have for the cost of shipping if you want it.
It looks like crap because it was corroded into a carbon frame and I had to take a pipe wrench to it (which turns out to be 100% wrong way to do it) but functionally it is still perfect. Very smooth and relatively low force to get it to drop. No damage to the stanchion at all. You will probably need to slam it all the way down into the seat tube anyway, so no one will ever see the cosmetic damage.
It's externally routed, 30.9 mm diameter and 125mm drop. If the drop is too much, I've had success in the past running a lanyard from but like I said, it requires relatively low force to drop. the frame to the seat rails to limit the up stroke. I also use shims all the time to shim up to 31.6mm and never had any issues. It does not have externally adjustable air pressure.

Is this the one you put in the Nukeproof? My son has the same bike and I'm looking to get him a dropper.Quick update on this one, I ordered the Brand-X kids dropper for my oldest son's Cub Scout 26. Installed easily and works perfectly.

We installed that dropper on my sons Vitus Kids 24+ (with modifications). Operation has been flawless and he loves it. It should fit perfectly on the Cub Scout. Is this the one you put in the Nukeproof? My son has the same bike and I'm looking to get him a dropper.

That's the one, and the bike should have shipped with the three 'grommets' to use to route the cable in and out of the frame. Is this the one you put in the Nukeproof? My son has the same bike and I'm looking to get him a dropper.

Thanks for the heads up! I wish this had been released a little sooner. It might have saved me quite a bit of time modifying a frame to accommodate the Brand X kids post. The 150mm collar to rail dimension might be a little tall, depending on the specific bike and rider height though. Probably still a little too tall for my son who is probably around 120mm from collar to rail.Just got an email from PNW Components announcing the Fern kids specific dropper. 27.2 post, 90mm travel, external routing and unfortunately $199 excluding a lever!
