I need new brakes for my 7120 brakes. I figured OEM is usually best, but I cannot find any OEM pads. I called bike shops and looked online. There are some with no box from china on ebay, but I'm worried they will be fake. Are there any decent aftermarket pads that I should consider? I'm leaning more towards metallic for more bite being that I'm 240 lbs and ride pretty intense downhill stuff from time to time. Any input is appreciated.

My LBS had them in stock the other day. I picked up a set for when I'll need them in another month or so. They also had an XT 12 speed chain. Shimano appears to be taking care of the LBS, around here at least. I think that's awesome. Use the LBS websites, they all use the same format and are really easy to see what's in stock.

Galfer pads work well and are way cheaper than Shimano

Interested. Needing some brake pads for my XTR M9120. Tring to find XTR finned pads has been difficult to say the least.

Wondering what the difference between the Pro Compound vs Standard Compound. Would that be Resin vs Organic brake pads, respectively?

I've tried some generic metalic ones from amazon to replace my 4pot XT pads. They seem to work reasonably well. that being said, I ordered two pairs of MTX race pads to try them out. FYI Shimano D02s and D03s pads work with the newest generation of 4pot brakes, you just don't get the fins. these are the same pads for saint and zee brakes and also work for the TRP quadiem brakes.
