Agreed. It's a bit of a poser. I'd be much happier if I could put my hands on problems such as these.

Swapping to the back is a great idea if it's 180mm front and rear.

Yeah I wondered that , it does have an arrow saying which way is up, but have just tried it both ways and still not working , I put on old caliper and that's rubbing now also , can't swop rotor over to old one as I haven't got any of the clips that goes on the screws but it looks same size ,old rotor I'm front of new one no

I guess you could fit some shims that are roughly the thickness you need the caliper to move outwards by to stop them rubbing.

You could put the old rotor back on as you can usually reuse those clips or even fit rotor without them, not a problem if you torque up correctly (4Nm with torque wrench or the approx pressure of a stiff door handle) and add some threadlocker to the bolts.
 
The adapter is the correct one and it appears to have been correctly setup.

There must be some sort of incompatibility with the fork post mounts, the adapter and the brake.

The solution would be to put some shims underneath the caliper to stop it hitting the rotor, put a even amount of shims under each side of the caliper so it still sits flat and even on the adapter.
Only shim it till it doesn't hit the rotor or the outer edge of the rotor is even with the outer edge of the pad, don't shim it too much and make the pads overhang the rotor.
 
I tried to measure the gap between the outer edge of both my front and rear rotors and calipers but can't quite get my digital gauge in there.

I have different calipers than you but very much doubt it would be any different than the gap you need for the pad and rotor surface to be properly aligned.

A 2mm Allen key fits between at the top and bottom gaps on both brakes and a 2.5mm Allen key doesn't. If you decided to use shims I'd say 2-2.5mm would be the thickness to go for @Robsteroscoe7.😉

Hi all, blown away by the responses and replies thank you so much ,

problem solved and I feel a bit stupid ,

one of the concave washers was the wrong way round (don't know if this was a problem)

but after spending a lot of time moving the caliper and adjusting and it still rubbing ,

i turned the bike upside down (it was previously on a bike stand) to get a better look and when I span the wheel there was no rubbing, Ive never tightened up 2 bolts quicker in my life !

Still don't really know what I've done differently, maybe being upside down just shifted it in the right position?

Anyway thanks again , now waiting the bleeding kit let's hope that goes easier !!
