Hi everyone,

Anyone can recommend a brake adapter for my case?

Avid/Sram Elixir r with 180mm rotors on a DVO Sapphire 34 D1.

The fork is 'direct mount 160mm'.

I tried a shimano 20mm adapter but had to add additional spacers between the adapter and the caliper in order to both clear the caliper body and clear the caliper from the rotor.

Thanks!

You have the correct size adapter, you don't have the brake set up properly.

The Elixir is a 'CPS' type caliper that needs the spherical (CPS) washers below the caliper when it's attached to a brake adapter or post mounts, without these washers the caliper won't have the required clearance for the rotor.

The bolt lengths needed for a proper CPS setup (spherical washers above and below the caliper) would be 43mm for the upper bolt and 37.5mm for the lower bolt, if you're using bolts that came with the 160-180mm adapter, they will be about 5mm too short as standard (non CPS) brakes do not use spherical washers beneath the caliper.

It's as you say! I did end up going back and putting the spherical washers, and the bolts just seemed too short - maybe 1/4" or 3/8" thread left.

I'll order a CPS specific adapter and report back. Thanks!

Well I ended up just buying the CPS kit with the correct length bolts. Prefect fit! I've attached a pic showing the bolt length difference. Silver bolts are the CPS ones.
