I need replace Front Fork on a 2005 Diamondback Response. The current fork is SR Suntour XC60, Travel: 75mm, Tire: 26”, Straight Tube (1 1/8” or 30mm), Rim Brakes, Open Dropouts Quick Release 100mm.

This is an extra bike for friends to ride and we mostly ride asphalt Rails-to-Trails. Some off-road trails but nothing extreme. With the age of this bike, I’m having trouble finding a replacement.

Can someone suggest a good Fork that will not break the bank?

Thanks for your help in advance.

PS added pictures. Hope this helps with the brake system

Since you are riding rail trails, are you considering rigid forks? I got a full suspension this year for MTB trails, so I'm turning my older hardtail into a dedicated rail trail/gravel bike. It currently has the same SR suntour fork. I'm planning on replacing it with a rigid fork from carboncycles.cc

I measured the axel to crown at 460mm (probably not accurately, but close). So the suspension corrected rigid fork should be the 445mm, with rim and disk brake mounts is the CC-2045 model. https://www.carboncycles.cc/?s=0&c=43&p=199

It's currently out of stock, I messaged them back in November and he said they are at the manufacturer, and should be restocked in 3 months or so. So February ish?

There could be other rigid forks out there, aluminum that would be cheaper. The other option I was considering... since most of the forks on ebay and such would cost at least $100 anyway, I was watching craiglist for a donor bike with the right fork for under $100. Sometimes you get lucky and people list bikes for $40 just to get rid of them.

also, have you checked pinkbike? There's currently listed a few Rockshox Judy and Suntour XCM's for under $100.

I haven't thought about Craigslist. THanks

Hey Willie,

I know this is a very old thread, but do you still have the old XC60 fork? I am rehabbing an old Raleigh with the same fork and I messed up one of the plastic adjusting knobs that holds the suspension spring in. Just like you, I found out it's impossible to find a replacement fork, much less parts for it. I would only need the plastic adjusting knobs.

Thanks.
