How's the snow up top? Is it clear enough to drive up all the way? If so, how is the trail on the way down? I've ridden it this time of year before and there were some snow patches that could be hiked. I'm wondering if that's the case right now.

Not possible to drive up there rn. You can do the original self-shuttle (fire road climbing). The trails are a bit messy but definitely rideable if you can get yourself up there.

Haha, seems like there is 2 hour window between snowy/sloppy and dusty up there.
Unless you get one of those killer afternoon storms that can roll through.

I have hiked through snow at the top, then right when it ends on Butcher is a dust fest.
But still awesome none the less.

Was up there the weekend before last and hit that good timing the day after some rain. First day was perfect and second day after the rain was still great, but I bet by late afternoon or th next day it would have started getting pretty dusty.

I was up there the same weekend as Big Fil. The day I rode was the morning after the rain. It was hands down the best dirt I've ever ridden in years of riding D'ville. The next best day was sprinkling on us all day long. As others said above I've ridden it when there is snow on the trail up top that you have to hike through but after you get past that it's typically dry and dusty. So the window for Hero dirt is always small up there.
