Hello everyone,

I would like to upgrade my bike with Shimano 12sp drivetrain (m7100 groupset) in the nearly future.
First of all i want to upgrade the cranks, chainrings (the actual ones worn out).
Now my bike have m6000 rdr with 42t cassette and 10 sp hg chain.
If i know it right, the inner chain width are completly the same between 10,11,12 sp chain, "just" the outher geo is the difference.
According to that "theory", i can buy m7100 cranks with 12sp slx chainring because the 10sp links are fit on those teeth.
Can you confirm this ?

I have another one question, does the 11sp chain works well with 10sp cassette ?

Thank you very much !

First off your post is all over the place. You ask about 12 speed then go on to talking about 10 and 11 speed.

No reason to buy new cranks besides to spend money. Just buy a chainring.

The chain rings pretty much work for 10,11 and 12 (though have seen posts about a couple issues with certain 12 speed chains).

As for chain and cassette, an 11 speed chain can be used on a 10 speed cassette. I know I was doing it for some time instead of buying separate chains. I had 11s on one bike and 10s on the other, just used 11s chains for both.

Would not recommend trying to use 12 speed chains on a 10 speed cassette, the narrower profile doesnt give the smoothest shifting.
