My bike locked up 3 times yesterday only while climbing steep hills. It was fine on the flats. It did it in all different gears. I recently replaced the bottom bracket and it appears to be fine. I have a Cannondale Trail7. Any help would be appreciated.....not sure where to start.
Thanks,
Mark

When you say locked up, was it a hard lock like something jammed, or did it get really hard to pedal. Did it make a noise when it locked up? If something jammed, how did you recover from that?

One possibility is that the skewer was not tight enough allowing the wheel to cock in the dropouts under load such that the tire contacted the chainstays or seatstays. A broken axle can do this too. You might check for evidence of rubbing where the tire would contact the stays.

Thank you Lone Ranger. I always check the skewer before I ride and it was tight. I will check the axel. After a lot of reading I think I’ve narrowed it down to chain suck. I will be measuring the chain today and checking the chainring teeth. Thanks for taking the time to answer and give me suggestions.
Happy Holidays!

I like these whodunnit mysteries. Based on the steep climb symptom I'm going with not2shabby and I'll take the drive side hub bearing slot.
