What type floor stands are you guys using? Not a repair stand but something just to hold the bike up say in the garage or living room or wherever by the wheels. Post your pics and results

Thanks

Look up any of the PVC bike rack plans and alter it to your needs. Mine is pretty much like this design but I altered the widths to hold a couple road bikes, my mountain bikes and a fat bike. $40?

JCD46. That very similar to what I am looking for. Doesn't take up much room at all. I've was also recommended the folding version as well.

MoJo. The PVC is nice but takes up more space than I want to give up. That's for the pic though

I’m running 2.25 on a Honzo but I’d like something that also fits up to a 2.5 just incase I get something bigger later.

Awesome. Thanks. Looks like the same that my LBS carries and for the same price so I may have to give them the business. I wish I had caught the bug before Performance folded

I might have paid just a few bucks less at Performance, you can also do light maintenance and clean your bike on the stand.

I actually need 2 more of those.

I slap together simple stands using scrap 2x4's Cost, 30 minutes or less of my time. $2 if I need a fresh 2x4. My 2x4 stands have all outlived any stand I've purchased in the past.

Google 2x4 bike stand...

Thanks. I've seen those as well but knowing me I would try to use cedar and really dress it up too much. But if I find some scrap wood, it may be an option

Cool. That's probably the direction I'll go or the folding version of it. Anyone tried this one?

That photo is basically what the RAKK is.

I usually 'store' my bike with the stand behind the front wheel. Super stable that way. And keeps it a touch more compact. It's nice to pop the bike in this holder to air up tires. Lube Chain, misc. little things.
No different than the stand in the first photo of the thread, it is equally capable of those little tasks.

The Scorpion is supposedly pretty good if your BB can accept it.
My Chameleon (2.8") usually leans against something in the garage but isn't helpful for maintenance. haha

That Rakk looks good. I currently have the stand below which isn't as sturdy or stable as I would like. I thought about adding some 1x4's or 2x4's as the feet in it to help stabilize it better. That may be a quick 5$ fix to see if I can improve on it. That would also give more depth for the front wheel to sit in to prevent the leaning issues I have. Any thoughts from the more experienced building and modding guys

I have the Feedback Sports racks and have found that they aren't as stable as I'd like them since I move things around a lot in my garage and sometimes bump into the bikes. Also trying the bars a bit can also cause the bike to tip over.

I use the racks solo- unattached to each other- and have put some spare PVC pipe through the square tubing to widen the base by half a foot or so (yeah, opposite of a square peg in a round hole). That makes things much more stable, you just have to remove the rubber caps/feet from the tubing.

Here are a couple of examples. The first one just a few pieces of 2x4s. Requires it be set up for the size of wheel/tire combo for the bike. Simple and cheap though, for sure.

This example is a piece of 1" conduit, a couple of steel brackets and some hose clamps. It holds bikes of all sizes and holds the rear wheel off of the ground to do simple maintenance if you want. A bit more fabricating but still simple and cheap.

I know this is dated but I picked up a great floor stand for $23 off the Home Depot site. It's made by Raak and also sold on Amazon. I'm really pleased with it. All metal and sturdy

Whoa, no way I'm throwing my painted triangle into a couple metal hooks.

I threw this together without any real planning. I'd do the part that the tire rests against a little differently, but works well.
