It's not hostility aimed at anyone in particular, but the general human population of the world over getting lazier and having money grabbing people only too glad to further enable this laziness that is perpetuating the world.

Glad you had no issues riding a cramped setup, but I do and yes I seem to be in the minority of those who frequent the interwebs, but I know I'm not alone, not when any semi-pro/pro MTBer I've ridden with also does not like the stupid STA and slams their saddles all the way back on the rails or does like me and uses a setback post so they can get true power to the pedals.

As to if I've ridden the Satori, no I have not, but I have owned and ridden a Prime and Phantom, what I'd say were one of the first to make the move towards "modern geo". They both have very similar geo (minus the really stupid steep STA) been riding them for the last almost 6 years, so yes I know what that geo rides like.
All I'm saying is perhaps your time is better spent in other threads where you often share your extensive experience, and it's appreciated. Poking your head in here to diss a bike you don't like and have never ridden doesn't really help anyone, and distracts from the intended purpose of the thread.

Words @1speed! 👍😎

So has anyone ever figured out the answer the original question? What is the max tire size that will fit on this bike? Is the 2019 the same as the 2018?

My husband loved this bike but didn't like the skinny tires. Would be amazing if we could get a 2.5 or 2.6 on the front and a 2.4 or 2.5 on the back.

I got the bike earlier this year and have a Conti Mountain King 2.3 in the back, which seems to be true to size. You can see the fit in the pics. You may be able to put some 2.4s in the back but will be tight.
Love this bike

It is not the DL model but putting it here since there are not many pics of these around.

All stock with the following upgrades: Suntour Auron fork, Shimano XT brakes, Kona wah wah pedals and new wheelset w/ Spank 350 rims and DT swiss 350 hubs.
Still loving the steep seat tube angle [emoji854]

Well I will be test riding a Satori on Thursday or Friday in hopes of purchasing it at the same time as long as it fits me well. Sounds like it will and has what I want in a bike. A great peddler and take a pretty good beating. I rode a Hei Hei Trail DL which was great but I kept thinking boy I wish this had 29ers on it. I can only get the plain Satori because there are no more DL's left which really really reallly sucks!! But I have come to grips that if this bike fit's me well I can upgrade the components over time.
I am between the top scale of a medium and bottom of a large. Everytime I ride a medium I have to put the seat all the way back or get a lay back seatpost and/or a longer stem. In large I need my seat almost all the way forward and a shorter stem. I get the feeling the Satori is going to be perfect for me in a large with the shorter cockpit and I like being more over the bottom bracket better on the knees and hips!!
It sucks not being able to get the DL. Upgrades always cost so much. Can't fit a very wide tire either but for my riding I should be fine. But if the fit is right that's all that really matters to me.

Where did you find a satori? If it's used be aware there is no warranty on the flexy-stay frame. From looking at kona's site, seems to have also been discontinued.

These 2020se must be some sort of anomaly that jenson bought up at a discount(?). They are awesome to buy from and will negotiate on price if you pay by CC.

P.S. I'm 5'10 with a 30" inseam and have ridden nothing but large framed konas, a lot of them. I also live in Austin which is nothing but tight twisty trails. Lastly, the satori is gonna feel small so I'd definitely go large on that.

Agree on going with the larger size on the Satori. At 6'2" I am typically between the L and XL in the sizing charts, but the steep seat angle makes for a shorter top tube and XL fits perfect. In fact even with a 510mm reach it feels smaller than my hardtail with 490mm reach and 72 degree seat angle.

I'm in Canada and there are a few left. It's a 2019 which appears to be exactly the same components as Jenson's 2020 SE.
I am also 5'10" maybe 5'10.5" with a 31-32 inseam so my torso is probably shorter than yours hence why I always feel stretch out up top on a large so I am pretty excited to hear about the shorter cockpit!!
I have been dealing with a Kona rep Stephan Strebel and he has been nothing short of amazing. He is getting the bike from the warehouse and putting it together to let me test ride it to make sure I am happy with the fit. Damn if that Hei Hei trail DL he let me ride had 29ers on it I would have bought it and put a shorter stem on it making it a perfect fit for me. It was a great bike with good components for a great price as it was a demo. But didn't want to ride a 27.5 bike wishing I had 29ers on it the whole time.
The Kona Rep is awesome and got right back to me when I emailed Kona unlike all the other bike companies I have emailed!!! I gotta take him some beer when I go to test ride the Satori!!

Ya I don't see how it can't fit me perfectly after reading you guy's responses. It's exactly what I suspected. Oh man I am getting so excited with you guys confirming my suspicions about the sizing.
How is the 1x10? I've only ridden an XT 1x11 on my last bike and it was awesome!!

I used the 10 speed Deore for a year and has worked well. It is a little dated (Shimano just launched a new Deore lineup) and is something people may complain about on a $2,400 bike (SRAM 11 speed is common at that price point), but is very solid and can take a beating. I did upgrade to 11 speed XT just because my other bike was 11 speed and was trying to be consistent so I could swap wheels and spare parts. But based on performance I didn't need much more for my local trails.

Ok thanks for your reply. The bike is ready to go the Rep emailed me and I can go test it today hopefully. I figure I will want to upgrade to a SLX maybe XT, depending on price, 1x12 drivetrain and brakes. I will ride the way it is though for a year I think though if it works well enough for me?

Congrats man! Don't sweat 10spd VS 12 etc. If the bailout gear is big enough and you're not spinning out in the 11t, then just keep it. Built wife's hei hei carbon 29 with shimano 1x10 and it works great. Basically the AK47 of drivetrain.

Yes I'm out of money really. Probably got enough for new tires. I wasn't to impressed with the OEM ones but truthfully I need to lower my tire pressure before judging. The rear Tomahawks slid out alot on the small pebble stuff as for the front DHF it slid out on me once in a corner and I went flying but not in scratch on the bike and I'm ok my helmet protected my head thankfully. I'll have to play with tire pressure but DHF's and DHR 2's have always treated me well.
The bike was awesome felt stable, light and flickable, stearing was great on single track climbed like nobody's business. First new bike I have had since I was a kid. I'm very happy with it so far need some more time with it though before I praise it to much. I'm pretty stoked so far though!!

Hi guy's whats the suggestion for tire sizes for the front? I don't believe there's a lot of choice for the back as it looks like 2.3 is the widest it will take with no issues but what about the front? I am thinking 2.3 DHR2 for the rear and undecided on the front 2.4 or 2.5 DHF minion.
By the way the only things holding my new bike back is my inexperience. I have done things on this bike that I never have before. Jump bigger jumps,go faster, don't brake in the spots I use to before this bike. Corners on rails so fast (gotta change my tires!!)Mostly doing single track, trails and some mellower bike park stuff so far but I think once I got traction set up and I am more use to the bike I will go to Squamish for some runs probably blues depending I have never ridden there before,
