I have a question about the Rock Shox Reverb Fluid..

My question is that is it mineral oil ?? and can we use them in Shimano / Tektro brakes ?

Has any body got any information about this ?

Thank you vary much ...

I agree that it's best to stick with the specified fluid rather than experiment or go by hearsay and anecdotal experience. That said, Reverb fluid is fundamentally mineral oil rather than DOT brake fluid. It's used in the Reverb post itself, but also separately in the Reverb hydraulic remote circuit. By look feel and smell, it's just like Shimano and other mineral oil bike brake fluids, and I have used Shimano brake fluid in Reverb remotes. The requirements for a seatpost are different than the demands placed on brake fluid, so there's nothing to guaranty that Reverb fluid will work as well or not cause problems in brakes.

Yes. Both reverb oil and Shimano oil are mineral and similar viscosity.

I wouldn't use reverb oil in Shimano brakes as it looks like it's made by Maxima and they do use seal swellers which I would test on Shimano seals before committing it to a bleed.

Thank you all very much for you support..

The reason i was asking this question was that i was offered a deal to buy 15 bottle of fluid for a reasonable price from a big dealer...

he were some 5 Wt bottles in some 10 Wt & some 15 Wt's but also 2 Rock Shox Reverb fluid bottles
As there is not that much reverb Droppers here in iran and i certainly would be able to use the whole 2 liters and also indeed i have to say i hate working on Reverbs they are always full of troubles & issues

Once i worked on one i used 5 Wt sram pit stiom in the main chamber of the post & for the remote line i washed and cleaned it and used Citroen Mineral fluid for it and it was fine as the costumer went with it and had no problems

i though that if their mineral maybe they could be used in Shimano's or other Mineral fluid brakes

And with the guidance you gave me i totally for got about it

But another question can this Rock Shox Reverb fluid be used in dampers * not casing and outer legs but only inside dampers as damper fluid ?? whats you Opinion on that ?

Again thank you very much for your support and sharing you experiences with me....

IDK about using it in a damper. The application is way different. A Reverb is not a damper. There are no orifices or valving with the fluid continuously and forcefully swishing through it as you ride or seals continuously moving. I'd say a damper is a much more demanding application than a dropper.

Both RS 5wt and Citroen mineral brake fluid are thicker than Shimano and Reverb oils by about 50% at 40C. They'll work well in the warm but may get slow in the cold.

The Citroen type fluid is great for air release.

I haven't tested either for seal compatibility in the Shimano brakes.

Ha ha ha ha i bet ill end up using these as toilet flush

And about the Citroen LHM PLus fluid i used them in mineral fluid brakes like Shimano's Tektro's Maguara's Etc......

But i totally flushed the whole line washed the line & reservoir also the reservoir diaphragm and indeed the caliper pistons

with industrial alcohol then dry them and at last use the Citroen Fluid... i remember there was a guy some people giuded me to his website this person was a specialist in all different kinds of motorcycle & bike fluids and oils

i read in his web site that you can use this Citroen LHM + Mineral fluid in mineral fluid based bike brakes ..

I dont remember his name but i think i think his fist name was Peter i guess ...!

IDK specifically, but the remote fluid seems very similar to Shimano brake fluid. I don't think it's very critical as all it's doing is working the valve at the bottom of the post.

Oops. Just realized I said this back in post #3.
