Anybody else feelin' low with this lack of snow? I remember fields blanketed in white but this year all I see is brown and it makes me feel down. Got some pogies yesterday, wondering if I'll actually need them... I guess I gotta move north!

We've had spurts of warm weather with rain, for cryin' out cold, that has then frozen over and is slicker than a greased pig. I was out this past weekend on the Luce Line and almost crashed as much as I rolled. The horse trails were fine, but the main trail was slick ice. My rear went out quite a bit if I tried maintain any speed during any turns. I'd be inclined to purchase studded tires if they weren't 200 for one tire. So yeah, ice everywhere.

It's just not the winters I remember from my childhood...

I'd love to make it out to Cuyuna, but probably won't have the time on a whim. I would have to plan and concede some time for the wife. Anybody ridden Elm Creek, Theo Wirth, or Lebanon Hills recently?

I ride Elm Creek several times a week. I was last out there Friday night. I would not attempt without studs. Mix of frozen snow, frozen snow with narrow glare ice rut, and trail wide glare ice. It's easily doable with studs. I couple pucker spots here or there. I just tried to not brake or steer much on the glare spots and pointed myself to the next snow spot. They ran the ice buster/scratcher through some of the trail Friday afternoon but busted the snowmobile track so had to stop

I love Duluth... except for the steep city streets. I've camped, snowboarded, vended at arts shows, and drunk the beer. I even lived with some guys from Duluth during my wild college years. One roomate's Dad set up a sniper post and started pegging squirrels off the powerlines. I think he was a cop iirc. Good times! I'll keep trying to talk the fam into a weekender up there, but so far no go. Thanks for pic, I'm jealous of that snow depth for sure.

Is it a little excessive now?! Snow forecasted for the next 6/8 days! My son is actually annoyed that school is canceled for yet another snow day... though I think he is actually trying to make my wife feel better about it.

I rode a bit this past weekend on a trail near me and have been riding a bit around St Paul campus during the past week, it's been a blast. I have only seen a handful of others commuting around but it's nice sharing a head nod as we roll. I'm certainly having some fun now... I need bigger tires...
