Just got a new frame and want to change the color of the factory decals.

I’ve removed decals from rims with just a heat gun and that worked great.

Surlys site says to heat with a hair dryer then “flake” off with a credit card or plastic spoon.

I’m not crazy about the idea of scratching them off. Anybody successfully use just a heat gun? If not what method did you use?

It's a Surly. Just ride it for a few days, and most of them will fall off... :)

ie, they're easy to remove as above.

I've just peeled mine off by picking at an edge with a finger nail and then pulling the decal off. The Surly frames are powder coated which shouldn't just peel off like paint. It will leave residue which can be cleaned off with WD40 or rubbing alchohol

Heat gun and plastic scraper worked great for me. The Surly decals do flake off in little pieces, unlike most stickers that pedal off. I follow up with Goo-Be-Gone.
