It's the area just above the C where the tubes meet. Bike is a cannondale prophet mx I've viewed, another concern is the rear shock is 150mm coil and part of the shock touches the mounts.

It's a Cannondale? Then they're cracks. ;)

Thinking back to my collage days, the first does not look like a crack as you usually do not have a crack propagate in that manner. Second one most likely a scratch. Put a little tension on it and see if it grows. If it is cracked, no loss in the test.

Best advise to have a Pro look at it. Castistrafic failure can lead to castistrafic injury. Lastly, all bikes, all makes, all materials can and do crack for untold reasons. Does not mean the bike is junk or not well built due to so many variables.

The first looks like a crack since it is not following a straight path. Cracks rarely go straight. Most wiggle a little as they follow grain boundaries and it coming out of a weld which is likely crack initiation location. I could be wrong however. The send looks like a scratch. Now on the first you can pull the fork and shine light inside the head tube to see if is cracked through.
