Theres pros and cons to each. Is there a big price difference? Do you like wider or narrower jumps between gears? If you want eagle range for the 11 speed, you can always pick up the e*13 9-46 cassette, though its pricey and durability may fall just a little short of the sram parts. X1 is not a very big bump in performance over gx. The eagle gx will likely be a half pound heavier than the 11 speed counterpart, all else equal.
 
I own X1 11speed, GX 11speed and GX Eagle 12 speed. The X1 shifter may feel a little more refined over the GX but apart from that there is no performance advantage over GX. GX Eagle 12speed offers you another 19% gear jump which equals +1 1/4 gears. I'm happy to have 32/50 as lowest gear now (before was 30/42) as going for a smaller chainring wasn't possible on my full suspension bike for technical reasons. The GX Eagle derailleur is much bigger and prone to damage, I bent mine withhin 5 days. That beeing said I wouldn't change back to 11speed, the lower gearing is needed often and helps maintain a high cadence.

Comparing Fuel EX 2017 vs. 2018:
The better fork and shock on the 2017 is more important, if you're smart you can sell the X1 components as new and buy the GX Eagle group with the money earned.
 
Have you ridden the Eagle around the parking lot? The first thing I noticed on a parking lot ride is how much smoother the Eagle shifts then any 1X11 out there. Good suggestion from Steel Calf.

So, to resurrect a thread, I've been looking into this for our 2017 Slash. I could go GX Eagle as has been suggested here. The e*13 9-46 seems to get middling reviews, so I'm not sure about that. Another alternative is the 44T X-Cog for SRAM for OneUp Components. I converted my 2017 Fuel EX 9.8 to a 1x11 by adding a OneUp 47T on the back and 32 on the front and I'm really happy with the range so far.

But the Slash has an XG-1150 cassette and the biggest sprocket is riveted on. So, I'd also have to get a new cassette. That has to be a SRAM XX1 (XG-1199) and X01 (XG-1195). So that's getting into the $400 range by the time it's all said and done. If somebody had one of those cassettes laying around they didn't want, it would be worth, but otherwise, I'm not so sure....
