I Rode R Ron's, Fast, very light, wore out way WAY too fast.
I've read they have made them stronger, last longer.
Seen so many Schwalbe tires fall apart, knobs coming off, super easy to damage.

Again I've read they are getting better but I'm On the Maxxis tires that came on my new bike and they perform very well and are giving me a long service life.

Rode Bontrager's,,they also were super.
XR2, XR3, XR4 as good as the Maxxis at nearly half the cost
Will gladly ride Bontrager's again when my Rekon's give up the Ghost:p

Both fast tires. NN has better traction. RoRo is faster. Washington state, or Coastal range in OR, or east of the Rockies. The wear too fast between the Cascades and the Front Range. Great on the east coast.

They have no distinct line of side lugs and as a result their cornering traction is terrible.
This I can agree with, I find their cornering traction poor.

Plus they are very draggy. Avoid.
This however I don't agree with, I find the NN to roll quite well.

I'm keen on putting my RR back on the rear and trying something other than a NN up front in 2.6", however I need to stop spending money on tyres. My Magic Mary up front is a killer for rolling resistance. It's really tempting to try a RR front + rear and be a bit more cautious on the corners.

Everything is relative. I put them on instead of Purgatory Grid 3.0 - Apex slower compound front, Apex faster compound back. All of a sudden I was pedaling where I used to pump and coast... They may be better rolling than some tires but they are slower compared to tires that have much better cornering traction and cost half as much.

did the winter with Nobby Nic trailstar on front and Rekon on back. Neither are adequate for me here on wet coast PNW

the sooner I can get my hands on a pair of seriously gnarly 3.0 Maxxis sticky compound tires the better

The NN was good for rock gardens just not good on new school corners, the others have said

I do not know about the RR

when it is dry .. does not matter that is just being spoiled compared to what I ride in the bulk of my MTB season (sept - june). dry is soo eassyyyyy now

I just recently bought a used SS with Nobby Nic on front. Did not like it. I felt that it washed out too quickly and had a lot of rolling resistance. Just had a real vague feeling to it.

I came from having Rocket Ron on F / R on my old singlespeed.

I changed out Nic right away to the Ron and am much happier. My set up right now is RR on front 2.2 Snakeskin and Maxxis Ikon on Rear.

The rocket ron is probably one of the best tires ever made. Great combination of being light, great grip and low rolling resistance. Yes it will wear out quick but worth it in my opinion.

Traction is so dependent on surface type. Compound matters heaps on harder/rigid surfaces, esp wet rocks/logs etc. However in dry loose conditions tread pattern rules, and the smaller RR knobs can't compete IMO.

The problem with the NN is the lack of a consistent gap between centre and side knobs, unlike tyres such as a Magic Mary and Minion DHF/DHR2. It has made me consider trimming knobs on my NN.

A Magic Mary in 2.6" with faster rolling centre blocks would be my dream front tyre, and a Rocket Ron 2.6" with bigger side knobs a great rear. Sadly it seems they're all about even tread across the tyre or the extreme diff of the semi-slicks.

Which tires would those be?

I can only comment on the diff between the 2.6" RoRo TL Pacestar and the 2.6" NoNi TL Pacestar. I use the RoRo as a rear tire. It rolls better than the NoNi, of course, which is better suited for my riding as a front tire. The NoNi corners better than the RoRo....but you can tell that would be the case just by looking at the tread pattern. I have about 150 miles on them so far And am very happy with them. No discernable wear yet, no pulled knobs and my times have been very good. I'm running about 16 PSI rear and 13-14 PSI front.
