Perfect. Tubeless ready - XC30 Fork - Sram breaks - It doesn't matter the bike you will eventually upgrade some parts, the only immediate one on this one is the pedals, other than that looks like a pretty complete bike to get you started. My favorite part, brand spanking new :)

Welcome!!

Lots of good advice on here for traditional bikes. Welcome to the game and hopefully you get something awesome!

Craigslist is also a good option.. but only if you back up the purchase with research so you don't screw yourself.

Cheers!

OK, well thanks for the advice all. It was suggested to me by a race shop mechanic to get a 29er and for street use to put less aggressive tires on it. A different guy said 27.5s were more like hybrid tires and were OK for street use to begin with. Are MBs good "daily use" bikes, and what would the better option be? I could just as well get a hybrid or fitness bike if I knew it could handle bad Massachusetts roads and gravel/dirt. I know I am not limited to one bike, but at this time, one bike purchase. What do "I do this for fun" types of riders do?

I use a hardtail basically daily for everything from running errands, running the dog, to riding trails. I've done the Flume trail in Tahoe on it. I'm running Kenda tires that they done make anymore but have a nice smooth/constant tread in the middle with knobbies on the sides. If you run a really aggressive tire like a velociraptor or downhill tire it won't be a good mixed use tire.
